Well, my definition certainly would not include getting *****-slapped by CMU in Huskie stadium.

The same CMU team that WMU dominated in Mount Pleasant.

The tide is changing.

NIU cannot count on dumb luck two years straight.

UT forced to play a WR at QB; dumb luck.

Franklin fumbling on the goal line; dumb luck.

The Huskies have earned the respect they are getting with their number 29 ranking. I will agree it seems pretty high, but there is no reason to be all pissy about it. It's just a preseason ranking.

Lol yeah these rankings are a joke.

NIU fans have earned the right to thump their chests a bit. Regardless of whether some of those games were squeakers or "lucky" or whatnot, their MAC record the last several years is what it is.

I'm not a big believer in Iowa this year

There were 56 teams that received at least one point in Pre-Season Coaches' Poll.

Fifteen teams that are in SENTINEL's top 56 (so far) did not get a single vote in Coaches':

Iowa, NIU, BG, WKU, Navy, San Diego State, Toledo, UL-Lafayette, Memphis, UTEP, Cal, Rice, Ball State, Middle Tennessee, and Appalachian State.

Not that Coaches' is totally credible: Illinois received seven points. Maybe somebody confused Huskies with Illini.

Used to be many coaches had their SIDs do the voting for them. AFCA tried to put a stop to that practice, don't know if-how well that worked.

This Pre-Season Ranking is pretty generous to G5s. Wanna know what's historically been NOT fair at all to G5s? Collegefootballnews.com. Here's some of their 128-team ranking to put things in perspective with a focus on G5 teams in the upper-area (bold being highest-ranked in conference):

No G5 Conference-best-ranked cracks past the Top 40. To them, Marshall at 10-2 is roughly as good as Wake Forrest, and no G5 team is better than Michigan, and only 4 or 5 are better than Indiana. LOL.
