Berry's only hope of sticking around is going to be winning the conference tourney. Football & hoops both got destroyed suddenly. We can see it coming in baseball.

I missed today's game because it is Fiesta in San Antonio. The UTSA band was awesome in today's parade. UTSA won today's game 11-7.
UTSA goes for the sweep tomorrow at 11 am. UTSA fans make sure to bring your brooms

IMO, he's an average coach.....he's displayed nothing other than a 'C' average in my mind (based on perceived talent and lack of ability to enrich)....he belongs in the asst coaching ranks....that's where his talent lies...some people are better servants in the trenches....
and I believe you're right.....heavy odds are in favor that if southern miss wins the tourney, he stays....I would even say if he makes the championship game, he's on firm ground....
I like the guy....I just don't think he's head coach material....

To me the most telling thing has been the quality of his signing classes vs. his results. Not every highly touted player our of h.s. is going to live up to it, but you can't tell me THAT many pro scouts and other colleges have been wrong on so many guys. Also, we have guys who seem to perform much better in the summer leagues than they do in Hattiesburg. There's only one variable to identify in that case.
I still think Berry is out if we don't make the NCAAs, no matter what else happens in the conference tourney.

Agree about the lack of player development. My other issues with his teams are the high amount of errors and lack of clutch hitting.
I also think he's done if we don't make a regional this year.

RE: Southern Miss at UTSA
Agreed that Berry is gone if we don't make Regionals. This is year 6 and he made the regionals in his first 2 years but none since if I'm not mistaken, and 1 of those regional teams was only because we won the CUSA tourney. As others have stated, he's a great guy/individual whom I respect but he has not been able to keep us going to regionals which is going to be his downfall. I agree too that our players seem to perform well in summer leagues but once the season comes back around they regress almost every time. IMO, we have to finish the regular season (12 games) at worst with a 9-3/10-2 record and make the championship game/regionals or Berry is done

Berry needs to go. We've known this for years. McG needs to be prompt and perform a national search.
