SlingTV but no CBS Sports Network
So I'm thinking of terminating my contract with DirecTV ($100+/mo), and switching to SlingTV. I've used SlingTV on-and-off for a month under their free trial and was fairly impressed with the service. Being able to get ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNews, and POSSIBLY WatchESPN through them for $25/mo plus fees is just great and covers nearly all of our conference needs. My only concern is that ESPN sub-licenses a chunk of games to CBS Sports Network. Does anyone know how we'd be able to view CBS SN as it is not available on SlingTV? I've heard that you can go to http://www.collegesportslive.com/ to view CBS SN programming but wasn't sure. Have any of you found a legal way with good picture quality to stream CBS SN without a cable/satellite subscription? Thanks!

No, they are on CBS Sports Network and have nothing to do with ESPN.

I'm not sure. Do any of you here know if the CBS SN games are available on ESPN3/WatchESPN. Then again, even if they are, I imagine they'd only be available if you had a paid subscription to CBS SN. Similar to how if you only received ESPN/2 you wouldn't have WatchESPN access to ESPNU/News unless you were also paying for a high priced package that included U/News.

No, they are not. I cut the cord and use the WatchESPN app and my parents' Slingbox for everything else.

Use this plus install adblock plus to your browser. You should be covered in anything ESPN doesn't pick up.

They won't be on espn3. They weren't this past year. Those games become property of cbs so ESPN no longer has the rights.

Yes, fingers crossed about SlingTV adding CBS SN in the coming months.

As for http://www.collegesportslive.com/ does anyone know if this website carries the live feeds of CBS SN? I read it is $9.99/mo. If that is the case, pairing SlingTV with the $9.99/mo subscription during football season would solve people's issues.

Seems promising especially if it has football. I would just pay for it for 4 months if they have football. Also, they need a Roku channel.

Curious as well, for those of you that have fully switched to SlingTV, have you had any issues hitting your ISP's data cap limits? I'm worried that streaming TV is a major data-hog and that 250 Gb I have right now with AT&T U-verse Internet may not be enough. Supposedly they don't enforce the cap now, but I'm sure with more of us cutting the cord, the companies will start enforcing those caps.

RE: SlingTV but no CBS Sports Network
ive mentioned my hatred from cbssports before about their lack of having the content available...to your question, the best answer is radio

there will be 2 radio (almost certainly with a online iheart radio link) for every football game (your teams and your opponents )...if you want to stay legit, make a list of everyone's radio links

there are normally non legit links...but the less important the game the less likely they'll be a link

cbssports sports was on roku for a month or so through skittertv but has since been taken down

only uverse puts caps on internet usage, coincidentally the only one that requires long term contract aswell ...

i think because aTt was a phone company first they use that type of business model

Slightly related. If you school has a College live app it appears you can listen to every game via the collegesportslive. It does show AAC baseball and softball currently, but I don't know if it will show football or hoops... If College sports live does indeed stream the rest of the AAC content I will ditch cable tomorrow. SlingTV is really the kicker for me.

I have been told to wait for the new Apple TV to drop though, so who knows what they'll have contracts with.

For those of you who have cut the cord, what box are you using? Do you use an antenna for OTA local stations?

I have a Roku 3 and a roof mounted antenna. Honestly, cutting the cord was one of the best decisions our family has made. It's relative for everybody, depending on how much TV you watch, how many sports channels you "must have", etc. For me, I only watch ECU so I don't care about the other fluff.

Some subscription combination of Netflix, Hulu and/or Amazon Prime allows you to access just about all the entertainment you'd ever need. Archived shows and new shows are available. Literally thousands of movies and classic TV shows / cartoons for the kid any time I want them. Also, there's tons of free content / channels you can add. Roku is way ahead of the others in terms of total content.
http://www.rokuguide.com/

For OTA television I've got one of these on the roof. I pick up about 40 channels between Charlotte, Greensboro and I think a couple in SC. I could probably get more if I took the time to really "dial in" the best setting / direction. It's pretty easy to install - the higher the better.

When we first 'Cut the Cord' and began Streaming via Roku, the wife would just turn the TV off and leave Roku Streaming whatever she was watching. It took me awhile to figure out why we kept exceeding our data cap limit. Once I figured out what was happening and advised her of the need to stop Streaming before she shut down the TV for the night, that problem was resolved.

We use a Roku 3 and an Indoor OTA purchased from Walmart. I can get ABC, CBS, Fox but NOT NBC via the OTA Antenna.

We started out over a year ago now with Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Amazon Prime (for FREE 2 day shipping for the wife). We dropped Hulu Plus as we found it was not really needed since we had Netflix and Amazon Prime. If Amazon Prime drops the 2 day FREE shipping, we will drop Amazon and go with Vudu (Walmart).

The only thing I miss is ESPN for College Football and since we dropped Hulu Plus I will consider picking up Sling TV . . or not.

So glad we 'Cut the Cord'.
