I have an Apple TV and use it all the time. Before I got a cable bundle (that I may drop in June when the contract is over), I used my Apple TV all the time for my entertainment. While the service advertises 60 channels, many may not be of interest to you.
WSJ, Sky New, ABC News, MSNBC, CNN, CBS News, PBS, PBS Kids, Fox NOW, HULU, Netflix, Youtube, iTunes, Podcasts, Radio (internet radio), Music ($25/yr subscription), Movies (pay per play), etc... There are some stations like the History Channel, A&E, etc... that will allow you to watch a few shows without a cable subscription.
You can also subscribe to NBA, MLB, MLS, WWE, Tennis, and NHL seasons. The ACC, NFL, and 120 offer highlights. What is missing- NBCSN, CBS Sports, and Comcast Sports.
Rumor is that Apple TV will have a monthly subscription service that offers ESPN and others.
I do not watch many television programs but watch plenty on Netflix and Youtube.
I have plenty of entertainment.
Quote:Apple's web-based TV service will reportedly deliver a lightweight package anchored by popular networks such as ABC, CBS, ESPN and FX, but will not include smaller channels typically included in a standard cable TV package. The report adds that NBCUniversal content could be notably absent due to a falling-out between Apple and NBC parent company Comcast. The two sides were allegedly in negotiations as recently as last year, although Apple believed that Comcast was too focused on its own X1 set-top box for web-based streaming.
