Why all the concern about players transferring
Steve couldn't recruit. Now folks are worried about his recruits leaving. The new guy will recruit over them anyway. Isn't that the way this was gong to work?

There was enough talent to win this year.
For whatever reason they did not produce.
Someone else will do well in the sbc with what is here.

So the "Steve can't recruit" argument no longer applies?

RE: Why all the concern about players transferring
Well it's one of two things. He couldn't recruit, or if he did he couldn't coach them. We have said that recruiting picked up the last few years. But we still could never recruit the type players he needed to run his offense. It takes big inside players that can score, block shots and rebound. If you're going to run that type of offense, that's who you need to be able to recruit. He didn't fit his style to the players he was able to recruit. I know that InsideUALR has mentioned that on numerous occasions, and I agree. It was sort of like when Jim Platt took over from Mike Newell. He tried to take full court players and turn them into half court players. Nolan had the same problem when he took over from Sutton. He had a group of half court players who couldn't play his style. It took him time to recruit his players. Steve had twelve years to get players in who could play his style, and he never could recruit enough of them. And that's why we're looking for a new coach.

I have said there was enough talent to win in the sbc all year. Jw and Higgins would start anywhere in the league.
We lost a lot of games with the talent that is here.
