RE: Hey UCLA
Speaking of UCLA, I'm surprised they, USC, Big West or the Pac-12 aren't hosting this regional (where Arizona and Wisconsin are) but Pepperdine is instead. Not important but I find it weird.

IIRC, a team is allowed to play at a tournament site as long as that site is not a regular home court for the team and as long as the team is not hosting there. If UCLA hosted a regional or a first-weekend session at Staples Center, the rules would not allow them to be placed there.
If the tournament site is the team's actual home court (e.g., Louisville this year, and several other arenas that have hosted in the past), then there is no downside to hosting, because the team already can't be placed there.

Correct, but ....
1) SMU would have won if the call was made correctly, and
2) if SMU played UCLA 100 times, SMU would win at least 60 or 70 of those games.

And so would Phi Slama Jama over NC State (more like 80-90), what's your point? What happened is what happened, and unfortunately is what people remember most.
And it's too unclear to say SMU wins if the bad call doesn't happen, there was still 10 seconds left and the deflection from the goaltending call landed in a UCLA player's hands two feet from the basket with SMU guy out of position. Like I said, finish off the game and there's no need for the refs to decide it.

The NCAA tries to rotate conferences as the host school. I believe that is why Washington hosted the first round in Seattle and Oregon hosted in Portland, and that Pepperdine host at Staples.

RE: Hey UCLA
Yeah, it's still a little weird to see Pepperdine as the host. And in all the time Houston has hosted anything, at least in the last 10 years, it's been both Houston and Rice as hosts, I'm surprised the SWAC, Southland, TSU or Houston Baptist haven't been dubbed as the host.

Yeah, SMU should have won it ... with or without the bad call. It's a school that hadn't been to the NCAA's in 22 years and it takes time for a program to get comfortable playing at that level.
UConn had many great players and teams before the 1999 championship, but it took a decade of trying to finally get the program across the finish line.

Seriously, why would a Cougar fan care? Still bitter about the 1968 Final 4? UCLA would have needed to shoot 30 airballs to lose that game, LOL.
Maybe he is a college sports fan besides being a Cougar fan. He isn't allowed to comment?
Didn't say he wasn't allowed to comment, I asked why he would want to comment.
Just had no idea why a Cougar fans would care so much.
Reminds me of a comment a 7 year old kid made one time.
"Houston doesn't have cars, they have horses" or this one "George Washington isn't dead, I saw him in a book"
