We need to get the best qualified coach with college coaching experience, at least at some level. Seeking a "Splash" with a hire without any college coaching credentials is just stupid.

Maybe hiring an unknown assistant and growing the program slowly is the best long-term solution. But, we need to create some interest in UALR basketball- like tomorrow. It is hard to gauge what effect the Sidney factor had on ticket sales since it was the year we moved into Alltel. But we sold more season tickets that year, than any year since the chancellor threatened to close us down doing the Newell era. And we haven't sold as many since.

RE: Splash hire
Darrell Walker might have the same splash effect. He wanted the job before but didn't have a college degree so we couldn't hire him. He has the degree now, and a lot of coaching experience. I'd sure as heck take a chance on him now.

"We need to create some interest in UALR basketball- like tomorrow". LOL. This is from a guy who just a short time ago called other fans "haters" for advocating for a change! Man, you really go with whatever flow seems to be happening at the moment!

Of course some of those same haters are all for hiring Steve's top assistant. Talk about insanity.
I have no problem with Joe because I believe he learned a lot from Steve. If I thought Steve needed to go, I certainly wouldn't be advocating for one of his assistants.

So basically you have no position, or is it every position? To start with, are you against Joe Kline being hired, or for Joe Kline being hired? Really, I'm having a hard time figuring out where you stand on that for one. And are you for a Corliss Williamson, Sidney Moncrief type hire in Walker, or are you against that idea?

The only comparison between Walker and the other 2 are they are all pigs. Darrell has been a head coach for 2 NBA teams, a CBA team and a WNBA team. He has been an NBA assistant for 15 years or so. Corliss and Sidney had no real coaching experience. Saying Walker will fail because 2 other razorbacks, with no experience, failed is a silly argument. Let's not consider a Florida assistant because Pelphrey was a bust at UAF- makes about as much sense.

As a head coach, Darrel Walker had two sub 500 losing years at Toronto. His Toronto teams finished in last place both years before he was let go. His only other experience as a head coach was a partial year for Washington where his team was again had a sub 500 losing record before he was fired. If any other candidate that wasn't a former Hog came here looking for the job with that head coaching record and absolutely ZERO in college coaching experience, the guys on this board would say hell no!

I haven't done any research on Darrell's NBA teams. In the NBA, if you take over a team with no talent there is not much you can do. Maybe Derek Fisher can coach, maybe he can't. But, I'm not making that determination based on his coaching a team with the worst roster in the NBA. Obviously, I'm not in favor of Darrell because he is a hog. That's a minus in my book. Still, I would be excited if he were hired.

I feel mixed as the media would follow him or joe.
I don't know that any young assistants would have anything other than they had been around a winner.
Winning does breed winning and losing does breed losing
