If you want a prime example of why NIU basketball sucks, there you go.

That makes absolutely no sense at all, he was a cancer and could have only gone to a place where he had a very limited role. NIU would not be where it is now if he had stayed.

What are you talking about? He's a role player on one of the best teams in the country. He would have been easily the best player on NIU.

If you get rid of a cancer, you should be better. NIU wasn't better. You can't keep losing talent like that. It's basketball. One guy can make all the difference in the world.

He had 13/4 in the Big 12 championship. Yeah, NIU couldn't use him.

You mean at home with a sub 500 record again?

He said the same stuff about Jake Anderson when Patton kicked him off the team for whatever reason. It's nonsense.

NIU doesn't need Big 12 caliber players on their team...right.

NIU would not be a .500 team right now if he had stayed. Much like Novak did, you have to root out the cancers to rebuild.

The cancers that Monty recruited?

Great analogy there, buddy.

MD continues to cement his legacy as the most asinine poster in Dog Pound history.

And for the record, we haven't had one .500 season in TEN years. We haven't played in ANY post season tournament in TWENTY.

Good thing we got rid of that cancer.

Obviously that's one of the hardest things to evaluate is character. Many college coaches do not find out character until its too late. I wish Nader success, but the fact you never know when he will stop playing if things don't go his way, just too risky and really brings down an entire team

So? I don't think any of us were thrilled with his play when he was here. I saw him as a selfish, unrefined player, on a bad team. He shot 33% from the field at NIU, and less than 30% from behind the arc. Monty is certainly to blame. Isn't Nader culpable as well?

They better hurry up and shut down UABs BB program too, before they win a title.

Oh good, lets just hope the basketball players don't go back to Ames though, they have had a rough track record lately.

For God's sake MD, if you dont' want to judge the MAC by the reality it's a one-bid league for the NCAA and you claim the players don't even care about the NIT, then how do justify the notion that the MAC is a top 10 national conference?
I'd love to see Buffalo pull an upset....but that's part of the definition itself -- our league champion is a No. 12 seed! Has the MAC ever had a team seeded eighth or higher, meaning it's expected to win?
In the 32-school 2015 men's NIT field, the MAC has one team: CMU, seeded 6th? How the hell does a conference with an NCAA 12 seed and NIT 6th seed deserve to be considered the No. 10 conference nationally?

Hard to believe but the women's side is even worse. The MAC women's champion, Ohio, is seeded 14th in the NCAA. And God only knows why so many schools are willing to spend money, the women's NIT is a 64-school field and there are six MAC teams. So what the hell does that say about our women's program when we can't even be among the seven schools in this conference to get a post-season chance?

Between the current men's NIT, CBI, and god knows what other tourney, plus the 128 women's squads now making the post-season, I don't want you (MD) or dekalb 222 to even compare the current men's or women's programs to Huskie teams from years past. At least when Hammel took to the men to the NCAA and Albright had the women regularly playing, the fields weren't as watered down or as weak as they are today. Now compare the salaries of the head coaches and assistants today to those of before, and NIU is not getting its money's worth!

Alabama's board of trustees haven't noticed yet, they're still hung over from celebrating their NIT victory over the ILL-ness.

You are equating seed number with quality of team which is faulty. The MAC is designated a certain seed, it doesn't mater how good or bad that particular MAC team is. Just how saying a conference is a 1-bid conference is more of a statement on the way teams are selected, and doesn't relate to performance or quality of teams. That is in large part the problem with college athletics, awards and post-season matchup are not based on ON THE FIELD/COURT performance, but rather handed out as birthrights.
