You've got to stop engaging him on this MAC thing, guys. He'll just keep cherry picking and adding qualifiers and using bad arguments. Don't bother.

Those MAC refs sure did favor the OHIO teams in the tourney to make sure Buffalo got in the tourney, right? Record. Attendance.

Not this year it was not at least, 2nd mid major/10th nationally is not a bad year for the MAC.

1st question, How many bids did the MAC get this year? One
2nd question, How many bids did the "worse" conferences of Missouri Valley, AAC, MW, West Coast, A10 get? More than One.
3rd question, How many wins did the MAC get over a ranked opponent? None.
4th question, How is the MAC doing in the NIT/CBI/CIT doing? Horrible, BG, EMU,CMU,WMU, all lost already. Kent State is the only team alive.

MAC basketball is not good, but it did improve.
BG & Kent State are alive.

Buffalo just got off to a horrendous start and probably dug themselves too big of a hole, they are at least trying to be competitive with a dominating WVU team.

WVU escapes with a W, what an effort by Buffalo, looked pretty much even with the Best of the Big 12.

WVU is not even close to being the best of the Big 12. Good game, they just weren't as good as WVU.

WVU is a top 20 team, just impressed Buffalo could look even with a top 20 team, congrats to the Bulls on a great season. Heck of a basketball game.

I wonder what ranking you would have given WVU if they had played a Valley team.

A close loss is still a loss and the MAC is now officially 0 - 1 and finished in the tourney. Meanwhile the AAC, MVC, Sun Belt, CUSA, and WCC (Gonzaga will advance) all have teams moving on. Top ten league!!

Buffalo's great showing today has rubbed some people the wrong way hahah, I will never understand how the rise of MAC basketball this year is such a sore point with people, there have to be other things to get angry about, geesh.

The monster deep conference you have been raving about got bounced out of the NCAA and NIT in a heartbeat. No one is angry. This is actually a perfect scenario to finally shut you up. 0 meaningful postseason wins. We like seeing you be wrong. We're happy.

Hey at least there's a chance to make some noise in the CIT.

I know facts are a tricky thing but the facts do not support your argument. West Virginia was the 5th seed (out of 10 teams) in their own conference tournament. They also got bounced in the quarters of that tournament. They aren't the best of anything in the Big 12. That is what the stats/rankings say. Don't shoot the messenger, just relaying facts.

As far as constantly mentioning WV's #20 ranking, you see rankings are much like bids, they are a subjective measure, those mean nothing to me, they are just handed out as rewards for name brands.

That's a great point, I give the ranking some merit because their RPI is the same, in WVU's case their ranking and statistical data are consistent, adding some credibility to that ranking. After all WVU was 24-9 and played in the best conference in the country.

And Huskietap22 I grant you the AAC had a better year than the MAC, but just by the slimest and most insignificant of margins

National Conference Rankings

1. Big 12 .5848
8. American .5250
9. West Coast .5209
10. Mid American .5163
11. Mountain West .5121
12. Missouri Valley .5116

This is where perception and history clouds your judgment. The RPI and almost every computer ranking available that goes into Massey would argue no to both your points above.

If a 16 seed ever had a chance against 1, Im kind of wondering if this Coastal Carolina/Wisconsin game could be the one.

The Big 12 is not, repeat not, the best basketball conference in the country.
