Like exactly what coach did RC fire that was under contract who had one year where his WORST year ever was close to 18-14?

Fortunately Bowen is not as trigger happy as fans. The bigger picture for Memphis athletics is football success and conference affiliation. In this day and age basketball has taken a back seat to everything else. If Bowen gets his way Josh will not be fired for the sole reason it would cost a sh!t load of money that could be used to continue our football and expansion efforts.

Now if the boosters get their way... well that's a whole other story.

If that's his strategy he's even worse than I characterized earlier. I know football diehards don't like to hear this, but Tiger basketball is the university's cash cow. Abandoning its goodwill in favor of entering the arms race of college football is a bad strategy.

Quote:Tiger basketball is the university's cash cow.

Yes, basketball is the cash cow. The Big East signed a massive deal with each team getting around $4 million per year. The Atlantic 10's deal is for $40 million TOTAL over 5 years...meanwhile, the ACC's deal is a shade under $20 million per team per year and the Big 12's deal is for around $23 million per team.

Good to see that we have new posters on board that are able to piece together compelling, rational arguments around each of their "Pastner sucks" posts.

True but football is still first priority no matter how much you don't want it to be

Tell it to the Catholic 7 who has a long history in bball. They’re making way more money than us without the bus driver.

Football will never be #1 in Memphis useless we get an SEC invite. Better wise up and go with the one who brought you to the dance and paid the bills in the first place.

I like football too and we should have not allowed it to die. Basketball has a special position here in Memphis and anyone who disagrees is as lost & clueless as you apparently are.

Kill Memphis basketball and you will kill all U of M Sports.

Hilarious. You never disappoint.

I'm still laughing at how pastner is making over 2 and a half million!!! That's the problem right there regardless of who thinks what...if u wanted to put football first then Fuente and pastner need to swap salaries until then our priorities are mixed up...I know it's all about timing but u should get my point that the wrong guy is making the most money.

What, pray tell, does their individual paycheck amounts have to do with the basketball team's below average result this year?

(this should be a stunning response)

I guess I'll have to repeat my question.

What does a paycheck have to do with a single poor season?

Please respond if you are able. Thanks in advance.

I'm saying our football coach should make more than the basketball coach but I think u knew exactly what I'm trying to say...we're paying the wrong man the most salary.

That's all I was asking you to prove publicly

Mucho appreciated... 04-cheers
Ahhh the miserables are LOVING this.
I also love that OUR COACH will be back bringing the basketball TEAM back to greatness next year!

Enjoy your cat kicking this summer!

I'll be praying for you.
