the more I look at Ole Miss' new arena, the more I like it. They are doing it better than Auburn and also within the budget that JMU has allotted.
Additionally, they are building it by their football stadium and JMU could take some notes if the plan continues to involve demolishing Godwin. If Godwin is going down, then that is the ultimate spot for a new arena as it can be engineered to include future expansion of BFS. i.e. Boston College who has luxury boxes that are open on both ends of a connected structure so they can be used for basketball games or football games.
The upper left of the picture shows how the basketball arena and the football stadium are integrated.

I like the BC model too and would love to see JMU do something similar but it's been discussed many times before and it's just not going to happen. There's not enough close parking and JMU has taken steps to minimize traffic on campus. It's one thing for 5 or 6 Saturdays per year but likely wouldn't work well and traffic would be a nightmare ... well, at least for the women's games.

We'll see how it looks when built but I really like that. It's got about everything you'd want. Seats close to the floor with a steep grade, some suites but no overly done, the rafters across the top create a cool atmosphere, and it looks like the seats come pretty close to the basket.
