UCF is 0-2 vs ECU this year.

3rd time is a charm!

RE: 3/12 AAC Tournament Round 1 Games
It's finally tournament time. Good luck to all, and let's play ball. This should be the #1 topic from this point until the automatic bid is claimed. UCONN will be a tough out on their home court, but I like the way the Bearcats are playing going into the end of the season: rebuilding year without their head coach, running more fast breaks, still playing good D without fouling much and just playing loose. SMU the team to beat for sure, Tulsa a bit of an unknown on the bubbly and Temple looking in. Can the Tigers make a run? Can a lower half team knock off a favorite and possibly run? Who knows but let the madness begin. Cheers!

The conference needs someone that isn't going to get an at large to win (ie. UConn or Memphis)

I just hope there's a good crowd there so it looks good on TV. I'm not counting on UConn winning on Sunday.

Pirates have to go 3-0 for the season against UCF. Pirates have done good in the first round of conference tourneys of late. Should be interesting for sure.

I dunno as good as I felt a couple weeks ago, we are really limping in to this thing. One win over our last 4, 2 bad home losses (points wise) and a bad road loss (opponent+points wise). Of course the one win was against UCF so who knows?

While obviously everyone wants their own team to win tourn/get auto bid...believe only SMU is guaranteed a NCAA invite with a first game loss.

Even Tulsa might need to get to Semi's or even Championship Game to get at-large bid.

Tourn I think is still wide open...any team can get hot and win 3 games in a row (those that would have to win 4 in a row might be a long shot...but UCONN, if they can get to the Semi's...might have a fair shot to win the whole thing).

UCONN playing that "extra" game might be the main reason why they just might come up short (i.e. having to win 4 games in 4 days), but their home crowd could help in tight games.

Usually in conference tournaments, the first day draws few fans. Lower seeds playing each other just don't draw. It's that way with most conferences. It gets better as the tournament progesses. The first day of the ACC tournament was bad as far as attendance is concerned.

UCONN will have good attendance but the other games will not.

Hopefully ECU at least looks like they want to be there unlike the Houston game.

Tulsa needs to win this Tourney because I think our at-large is gone. However, I don't want anything given to us. I want to take it the hard way. Grudge match vs Uconn and defeat them on their homecourt twice in one season. Then payback to SMU in finals. Nothing against Cincy (I think we actually will play you and not UConn) but I want a grudge match scenario.

I think winning two could do it for Tulsa depending on who the opponents are.

I also think an upset champ will knock out someone other than SMU. I don't think we will be gifted four bids.

Actually while Tulsa and UCONN split the series this year each team won at home and each game was a blowout for the home team. If I were picking an opponent between UCONN and Cincy though I would pick UCONN as I think TU matches up better with them and I would like to see how we do in Hartford when James Woodard doesn't have the flu.

I think you mean defeat UConn once on their homecourt since the only other time you played us here wasn't pretty for TU. I'm hoping for a good tourney here in Hartford. I saw a few USF players wandering around downtown last night after I got out of work. Hopefully they hit some bars or something.

RE: 3/12 AAC Tournament Round 1 Games
If anyone is going to the tournament and you have extra time, it might be worth it to go to the UConn campus. It's probably not what you would expect. It's one of the two or three largest in the nation (4,200 acres?) and very rural. That's about a 30 minute drive from Hartford. The campus isn't at its best in late winter; being so far north we don't get leaves on the trees until May.

Everyone who visits goes to the dairy bar for ice cream. UConn started as an agricultural school in 1881 and we're proud of our cows. UConn is where they figured out chickens would lay eggs all night if you kept the lights on. We're not that big for a state flagship - about 18,000 undergrads ... not much different than Syracuse and Baylor. The state has invested between $3 and $4 billion in the school since I left in 1984, so there are many new buildings.

I always try to visit a college when I go anywhere (Harvard in Boston, UCLA in LA). I haven't been to UConn since 2007 and things have changed a lot, so I can't recommend any place to eat.
