RE: Little Rock Bowl
Not an exciting opponent or destination, but it's 5 hours from Dallas and I'll go if UConn or SMU is playing.

Western Arkansas is really nice ... it looks exactly like Connecticut with the hills & trees. We go there every summer for family vacations. But as a bowl destination? I don't know. It might be ok.

Maybe we can get the New Orleans Bowl when its current contract expires.

Huge difference between the AAC and the G4's

This thinking is the reason you guys are looking at getting a bowl in Little Rock. Just saying

Say Wat?????

I consider the MWC to be a lot closer to you guys than you are to the P5. Hence your problem. You backed out of Nola because you wanted a game with a P5 school...only to find no P5's wanting to play you guys because of the same gap that you see between you and the G5.

You guys didnt get access last year...a 2 loss MWC school did. That should give you an idea about where everyone else sees you.

03-lmfao I'm pretty sure we already established that the American picked up two 'new' ACC ties, has a few others as well. Someone earlier in the thread listed them, we're playing around 4 P schools every bowl season.

I don't think we expect to win the Access slot every season... in fact, it's already been well discussed how crafty Boise was in sliding back to a very weakened MWC. They have an excellent shot to take that game every year, if a quality AAC is beating up on itself. But we shall see how that works out.

Now what we DO have is posters from some SBC teams living on our board today. THAT surely speaks to our level of importance! 05-stirthepot

This is a no brainer New England wins because the viewing audience is much greater and they can make more money
A bowl at Gillette Stadium the home of the New England Patriots is a win-win for a conference period.

We could get a good affiliation because the power 5 is interested in the TV viewing for sure. I I think it becomes another P 5 bowl for our conference yippee

If City leadership had any initiative, it would have had a bowl a long time ago, but they put all their eggs in the "Razorbacks are going to play here every year basket" With the Pigs looking to pull out, the city is desperately trying to find something.

Correct that the city of Little Rock is far from dreadful. It's a medium size southern metro of 700,000 with plenty to do for a couple of days, plus Hot Springs is just down the road.
.
But the Little Rock Bowl is dreadful for the AAC. It's not the city so much as the bowl. The only AAC fans who would show up against somebody like ULMonroe would be Memphis, and maybe Tulsa and SMU, and only because of proximity.

Well I can see it if the western teams are interested. From my point of view if a 6-6 USF team bowl choice is in December in Little Rock vs Sun Belt. I rather we stayed home. I'm a die hard fan but will not be spending money on a meaningless exhibition game in a place I'm not interested in going vs a team that I don't care to play.

Totally agree

Additional North East presence is what this league should aim at increasing and probably were TV partners would want it to be held too.

Exactly, whats the point. It really would be worse to play in this bowl than to stay home.

RE: Little Rock Bowl
If you look at our schools, Atlanta is the geographic center of our conference. Even though we have no schools in Georgia, that's our most central location.

How many bowls does Atlanta have? I don't follow this stuff closely, so I don't know. I can't think of many. How about adding a bowl there instead of Boston or Little Rock?

Being a history buff and having good friends in Mass I'd love to have a bowl there.

Make it a bowl hosted by the AAC - this is a perfect "American" branding opportunity in a great market. To solidify the AAC as the host and owner of the bowl, rotate the opponent from year to year, include the ACC and Big Ten, if possible, but also include C-USA, MAC, etc.

If it's AAC #6/#7 vs SBC #2...

Could be worse.

SBC does not designate an order for their bowls. They actually try to make it a team that their finds wcan easily attend. Imagine a league thinking about the fans, what a concept.

Well, it beats an open air bowl in New England.....

Yes, but San Antonio would be much better. I'm picturing an ice storm bowl game in Little Rock. Not a bowl destination I'm excited about.

The Truth will set you free my friend.

Long way from this coming true though. Little Rock has lost games twice because of a combination of television, and no one having the remote desire of having to play a virtual road game against Arkansas State every single year.
