St. John's could not afford to pay either one of their salaries. Louisville pays Pitino $8m/yr. Calipari is making close to the same at UK.

My guess is that if that were a realistic option, they'd find a group of wealthy donors willing to open their checkbook.

You can build a great program anywhere as long as you hire the right coach. It's even easier when it's located in an area rich with recruits.

I'm sure Under Armour could give Cal $10 million ayear to coach St. John's. Hell they could claim that they named the school after him and everything.

That's obviously not happening, but at this point I'm hoping UK wins it all and hopefully that makes Cal more likely to move onto Cleveland.

The question is why would either leave KY or UL for a small raise to take over a toilet program?

If I were Cal I would only leave UK if the right NBA gig came along. It would have to be job where I called the shots and the team was on track to win it all. Going to Cleveland might give you a shot to win right away, but you would be working for LBJ.

Blatt got hired before Lebron announced he was returning to Cleveland. LBJ is the one in charge in Cleveland, if he wants Cal, Blatt will be gone ASAP.

I think he would also still consider the Lakers, and there was report that Brooklyn could be in the mix. Then the question is, who does uk replace him with, or who would be willing to follow him? Travis Ford?

My point is, that with the right coach, St. John's could compete for the nation's top athletes, and dominate recruiting in the metro NYC area.

Yep. They thought they had the right coach for that, though.

I will say it again, St. John's hasn't been the same since they built on campus housing. They will never have the recruiting advantage they once did when it comes to getting the local kids.

Potentially LA could draft Towns and pair him with Randle. And have a bunch of cap room next year when Kobe's contract expires. Not a bad situation
