Actually that's quite a stretch, as I'm sure you're aware. Since the departures, CUSA is 7-44 against BCS teams. The wins were against Duke, Miss St (x2), last year's NC St (x2), UVA, and the marquee win, over 1 game over .500 Okie St! The wins did come against teams averaging about 3.5 wins in the season a CUSA team beat them, so that is impressive....I guess!

You might see more Big East vs MWC games. Could also lead to a poinsetta bowl spot as well.
01-wingedeagle 01-wingedeagle 01-wingedeagle

I se you like to get your diggs in no matter how stupid it makes you look.

I do not know how you see those remarks as a dig? Are you a bit paranoid? Whats wrong with the Big East in the Poinsetta bowl? Thats not nearly as stupid an idea as the "Big East split."

Nope, not paranoid. its just that anything that you post about the BE is negative, including this gem "Both leagues are about the same size and play on the same level." It was the acc who played at the MW level this past season.

I do not post ANYTHING negative about the big east but sometimes a reality check is in order. fact is the Gator/Sun deal was saved by Notre Dame and the rest of the Big East bowl line up in on a level with the MWC. You may pick up a third tier bowl in Tampa but there are no realistic prospects for anything better. It is unrealistic to put the BE on a level with the Big 5 leagues.

I think that thing called the bcs bowl makes it realistic to put the BE on the same level as the other 5 leagues. So once you take away the bcs bowl and the Gator/Sun bowl deal, you may have a point. But this is where your line of reasoning falls apart, as it always does, you cant take those bowls out of the equasion (sp) as they are apart of the BE bowl lineup. 01-wingedeagle That, along with the higher bcs ratings and all of the polls, and the best record of all the bcs conferences along with the SEC, and 5-0 in the bowl season, talk about reality check, you need one more than anyone.

Correct but you have to consider the level of competition. Because the Coogs were 10-4 in CUSA does not mean that we are the same as LSU. You cannot translate wins in the Big East to wins in the other Big five leagues.
In addition the MWC is in the fastest growing part of the United States while the Big East is centered in an area that has been on a slide since wwII. The only thing you have on the MWC now is the BCS bowl and that was based on MT's relationshhips within the BCS. A BE vs MWC association would work very well right now.

TopCoog, the Northeast hasn't been on a slide since the early 90s. We've been growing although on a percentage basis slowly compared to yes what is correct about your post the fastest growing part of the country. New Jersey is forecasting to add over a million new people over the next 13 years. And why are we investing so heavily in infrastructure again. Do you have any idea about the number of mass transit projects in the northeast? Or the housing developments in the corridor region that seem to be springing up almost as fast as the Sun Belt areas. The demise of the Northeast was very very premature in prediction. Look at Southern New Hampshire and the amount of development there as the Boston suburbs continue to expand outward. And Boston isn't doing too bad itself for that matter. High density development is on an upswing in many areas of the country, while I was down in the Tampa area last week I noticed several condo/townhouse projects. Demand for public transit as a relief from over crowded roads is also at a high in many areas. Phoenix is being proactive and building a light rail system. Boston is expanding its services. New York and New Jersey are in the process of a mass transit building boom. Bus Rapid Transit, Light Rail, Regional Rail all over the place. I'm actually interning on a Bus Rapid Transit study for the Greater New Brunswick/Rutgers area, that is being designed for a conversion to light rail at a later date.

The Big East might have its issues with getting bowl games, but that does not put it at any level comparable to the MWC. Last year proved that the Big East is head and shoulders above the MWC. You are only here for one reason, to piss of Big East fans.

One year does not prove anything. In the last three years the MWC champ SOUNDLY defeated the BE champ in a bowl game so we know for sure it was better AT LEAST one of the last three years. In addition, any BCS MWC would have Boise St as a member and they finished ahead of all BE teams last year. You guys are chasing your tail on this issue. The two leagues are a toss up right now.

If one year does not prove anything, why do you constantly trumpet the ONE example in which the BE performed poorly in a BCS bowl? lmfao

As for the bowl agreement, all of those were struck before last season, when the league was still struggling to rebuild. If they still have their current deals after the next renewals, then I'd say you have a point. But, I seriously doubt it goes down that way.

Lets see, your reasoning is that the MW was a better league than the BE because their champ beat one of the BE champs? Then that means that the BE was a better league than the SEC the year that WV beat the SEC champ Georgia in the Sugar Bowl. That also means that the WAC is a better conference than the Big 12 because Boise beat Okla., the Big 12 Champ. HHHMMMmmm

Am I to believe that if Memphis wins the ncaa bb championship that cusa is a better basketball league than all of the other conferences?

With every post, you show that your not pretending to be stupid, you really are stupid. 01-wingedeagle

So, your saying that the BE and the MW conference are a toss up right now because Boise won a bcs bowl, even though Boise plays in the WAC?
Yep, your stupid. lmfao

PLEASE tell me you can't be this stupid! Who cares if Utah beat Pitt 4 years ago, compare the conferences since then. The MWC isn't on the Big East's level. Heck, Louisville was the real Big East power that year, if they played Utah instead of Pitt things would have been different. And even that year the Big East, officially, sent 6 teams to bowl games and the MWC only had 3 teams out of 9 with a .500 record or better. Using your logic, 2 years ago the Big East was better then the SEC since West Virginia beat Georgia right? Also to show how dumb you are, even if the MWC added Boise State the Big East would STILL be further ahead of the MWC statistically. The Big East is a legit power and the MWC ain't sh*t. And the only toss up is who is smarter: You or a rock.

Cats, You have always been good at throwing insults but little else. Your own program is one of the reasons the MWC and BE are almost even in their development. No league with Cincy, USF, UCONN and Syracuse can claim to be a power league when those four schools make up half the league. Louisville and West Va are doing well because they play in a league that gives them an easy confrence schedule. Thats the point the B12 fans make...week in and week out the panty brigade just does not put the same amount of pressue on the league leaders and you find in the b12 or sec. That is the diference between good leagues like the MWC and BE and the power leagues.

I cant believe that you would make such a ridiculous statement. Every program that you mentioned has been to more bowl games than Houston this decade, with the exception of Uconn, who has been bowl eligible, but did'nt get a bowl because they had no conference affiliation.
Just so that you know, USF is rated ahead of every Big 12 team, but 2, and Cincy is ahead of 7 Big 12 schools, so there goes your theory regarding playing tough conference mates week in and week out. Every BE team is rated ahead of Baylor, by a mile.
A couple of years ago, you would have had Rutgers in that quartet of BE schools that takes away from the BE. And wow, no league which has Syracuse will be taken seriously? 01-wingedeagle Syracuse has been way down since 2002, but its still Syracuse, people are still waiting for the program to rebound, but please dont mistake our program for Houston which has been down for so long that they no longer have a fan base. Syracuse went to a bowl game as recently as 2004.

First of all Houston is not down, last time I looked they were 10-4 last year. Secondly, the topic was not the coogs but rather the Big East and the MWC. Who is waiting for Syracuse to rebound? Further, no serious minded football fan who is not a big east supporter places the Big East in with the five power leagues.

Not in the top 5 power conferences for football? Quick name the last conference to go 5-0 in bowl games? or how about we make it this simple.. name the ONLY conference to do it since the inception of the BCS?

My ears seem to be selective in what they hear.. because I cant hear you over the noise in this conference.. they just keep talking about having 2 or 3 potential NC contenders next year.. the only NC you are going fo ris, No Chance..

By the way.. I got a message for you at the Office today..

"Middle School football called, they want their pillow schedule back.. "

I still cant figure out how you two had 4 losses(Houston), and 5 losses (Southern Miss).. with schedules as easy as yours.. I thought you were both PURE FOOTBALL SCHOOLS?

Last I checked my bearcats, at a basketball prominent school.. had a SOS of 6 in the country, and some even put that higher(top 3).. but we'll go with six since I havent seen anything lower than 6.. had only 4 losses this season as well.. I would pull that condom out of your ear, because next time your cellmate has his way with you, you wont be able to see straight out of your left eye...

Cincinnati has been a great basketball school but I 'll be surprised if they come back in a basketball loaded league like the Big East. It may not be as easy as you think. I'm affraid your loss is K-State's gain. We'll see.

I'll take up the Cincy not coming back comment....

It won't be easy and it won't be soon but UC has tradition built up over several decades of basketball and Mick Cronin can recruit. Will be win the BE any time soon...naw, probably not. But Mick will have us back in top 25 I believe in the next 3-4 years.....after that we should be back to "normal" and have a shot at the BE any given year.

Yes, it's just my opinion but history backs me and Cronin is the man.

And yes, our loss is K-State's gain...Huggs had some tremendous kids lined up for his first year in the BE and they left when he did. But, Cronin will get the job done....

Further, no serious minded football fan who is not a big east supporter places the Big East in with the five power leagues.

Well I think you need to tell that to ESPN, CBS and Fox since they ALL mention the Big East as one of the 6 Power Football Leagues in College Football post realignment. Or you just might have missed Kirk Herbstreit mentioning this fact this week on ESPN and Tim Brando as well. Hell even CFN who has been a Big East critic is now giving the league it just due.

Fact is this Top Coog, of the Preseason Polls for 2007 you have not 1, not 2, not 3 BUT 4 Big East teams mentioned in the Top 25 with Louisville and West Virginia in the Top 10, Rutgers in the Top 15 and South Florida in the Top 25. Last I checked that was half of the Big East along with Cincinnati coming off a 8 win season playing the 3rd toughest schedule in 2006 in the Nation.

That is not to mention that the Big East just might have the most Heisman Candidates of any league in the nation. Very few leagues can boost such talent that is Heisman worthy like Brian Brohm, Ray Rice, Pat White and Steve Slaton.

One last thing, Big East OOC record including Bowls:
Overall OOC Record - 37-8 Best in College Football
OOC Record against BCS - 14-7 Best in College Football

But I forgot you also predicted this for the Big East by now:

Gator Bowl will leave the Big East.
Big East would be on BCS Probation.
Big East will lose BCS Bid.
Big East will only receive partial payout of 5 Million for BCS Bowl Game.
After UofL lost to WVU in 2005, Big East will have no ranked teams.
Georgia will destroy West Virginia.
Big East will play Non BCS League in BCS Bowl-(Sorry that goes to the Big XII).
Now I will go old school, Louisville and Cincinnati will not go to the Big East.
The Big East would lose to K-State, ECU and Georgia Tech in the 2006-2007 Bowl games, last I checked the Big East went undefeated.

The fact is this, you are just a jeolous fan that is pissed that former C-USA schools have moved on to bigger and better things. Don't hate because you play in a High School Stadium. Now run along back to Mid Major land where you and OG Eagle/Eagle Ghost/Winged Eagle/whatever he calls himself now belong. You are not ready to eat at the Big Boy table just yet.

One last thing, since Top Idiot wants to say the Big East and MWC are on the same level. Let's see what the BCS Computers say about that from College BCS.com they combine all the BCS Computer rankings plus the Harris/USA Today Coaches Poll, also included are the individual 6 BCS Computer Rankings for Conferences and the Big East is according to the BCS Computers on the same level as the ALL MIGHTY SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE and for the RECORD we have BEATEN THE SEC IN OUR LAST 5 MEETINGS INCLUDING CHAMP VS. In 2004 with the Big East being able to count Louisville, Cincinnati and USF and able to drop BC and Temple it was the 5th highest ranked league and in 2005 it was 6th but it was a huge dropoff to the MWC.

Top Coog, never let facts get in the way of an argument. You will lose every time.

again Maize, your schools do not play anyone. The Big East is included as one of the six BCS autobid leagues , they are not considered a power confrence in football. The lack of any depth in the bowl line up cannot be argued. Many bowls, including the Liberty, that could have signed the Big East passed. Its a solid second tier league, like the MWC, but thats all it can very be with the teams it now has. The lower six members of the league might have a good season now and then but not often. Most of them will be relagated to Toronto and Birmingham level bowls.
