Industry buzz on Houston AD job is many sitting ADs at C-USA/SB/MAC would be interested. Hunter Yurachek could be strong interval candidate
I say no to any ADs from those conferences. We don't need people with experience from where we have been. We need an AD who has experience from where we want to be.

If we don't pull a top associate AD from a high profile university, then this hire is a fail.

The only G5 ADs I would look at are those who have had a history of building up or sustaining good football attendance.

Like the guy at ULaLa. Or Boise St's AD. Or San Diego St's AD. I am sure there are others, I have not canvassed them all.

Most of those schools struggle drawing in football, and we don't need someone who's proven incapable of fixing our biggest problem.

Wells said, in total agreement, need someone who knows how to build a fan base and put 40k for every game we play, and build to the 60k for every game

RE: Houston New AD
I have on good faith from someone I trust that no AD from a G5 league unless they have plenty of experience at a P5 school (ie Asst AD etc) will be considered. Targets will be P5 Ast AD's or Sr, level candidates. Also, several NFL Sr. Executives will be approached (not saying they are interested). Outside the box candidates will also be looked at (ie Marketing Guru's).

The thought is the foundation of how to run a athletic department is embedded within the BOR and the university already. The next AD will not need to have a lot of admin knowledge as they feel the staff in place (that does not leave) is well experienced at that. What is missing is vision and creativity to link athletics with the city. Grow in the city you can survive while chasing the Golden ticket.

This. I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with an MLS executive (which by the way, was Oliver Lucks background prior to going to W Virginia).

I think you have seen some of what is going to be coming from the "Your City is Calling you Campaign". That was all Herman and not from the AD side. Just like the increase in dollars for the coaching staff's I expect the next AD will have a greater budget for marketing that ever before.

Important qualities...

-Ties to P5 (esp Big 12, ACC, or Pac 12)
-Houston background/familiarity
-Solid personnel record

We will probably end up with 2 out of 3.
