Also why some schools see the same refs several times a year. However, they technically could work any game in D-1 basketball. For some big matchups they will assign really veteran guys no matter whether the game is in their region or not.

For example, the 3 refs that have worked the most AAC games have also reffed a lot of games in CUSA for the top guy, ACC for the 2nd, and Big 12 for the 3rd.

This makes more sense. The big east was more regionalized, so I guess I'm being exposed to a whole variety of regional refs that I think are pretty poor.

I always wondered why we saw so much Hightower and Higgins back in the big east.

As an aside, one of the better officiated games I've seen this entire year was the UC vs Xavier game. Whoever those guys were should be officiating in the NCAA tournament. They did a fantastic job.

Announcers have now twice questioned why Lunardi doesn't have Tulsa in his bracket.

That's a big change for an espn crew. Normally they're babbling about BPI and agreeing with Lunardi.

Only reason for our guys to play that hard is pride, and man, was I glad to see it.

Dude in our game you'd think Lunardi controlled who was in the tourney

That was the first AAC espn game I've seen in the last week or so that didn't feature Lunardi talking multiple times during the game. Must have the night off.

Those refs had better not call the conference tournament. They were freaking pathetic.

Isn't Lunardi a St. Joe's guy? That would explain it.

That's b/c our pool of refs is shared by the AAC, CUSA and the Big 12.

AAC refs also work Big Ten games too. (UCF has had Valentine at least twice this year at home...and I think once on the road).
