"They also determined that Clay Ryan, an attorney serving as liaison between the task force and UAB administrators, will no longer be involved in daily work going forward. Instead, the group will submit regular written reports to university leadership."
"A subcommittee led by Don Hire, a major UAB donor, will work to solicit irrevocable gift agreements contingent upon the reinstatement of football, rifle and bowling."
"The task force also plans to create a website for donors to establish those agreements and for fans to buy season tickets, which would be refunded if the sports are not reinstated."

I hope it's OSKR, but I wonder if Schwartz's articles will prevent him from being seen as objective by the administration? I could see that as a leg Watts would stand on to discredit the report if it's favorable towards football.

Possibly but he really has no dog in this fight other than just ripping the Carr report to shreds. He's an economist and looks at data. The data he saw didn't support the conclusion.

As long as that weasel Ryan is gone, I can believe the report will be honest. Mr. Hire and Dr. Messina will assure that

I'm really beginning to like Don Hire. I've never met him, but I'm really liking what he is going after.

My comments about the article on al.com:
The author of this article is obviously considered by Watts and his henchmen to be those "reliable reporters" referred to the PR campaign documents which John Archibald revealed. That means she will simply publish whatever they give her without much question and who not going to spend a lot of time digging up any real facts. In this case she could have easily discovered that Jeff Schemmel, President of College Sports Solutions, has more problems than sited with integrity. She could have easily determined that he and Bill Carr, whose firm produced the much disputed Carr Report, use to be associates in the same firm. Okay, we have a choice: A firm that is a nationally recognized authority in sports economics (who has already found problems with Carr's findings, or one of Carr's buddies.
I really believe that this article was give to this reporter by the administration to discredit the committees work in advance. The reporter who has been show to be a "reliable" in the past. Now we can plainly see the excuse that Watts is going to use for not reinstating football regardless of what the report says.

Yep. The quote from Bakken seems like a pre-fired warning shot from the administration to not pick OSKR.

I don't see that. She wrote a weak lede. It happens. Even I have written weak ledes, hard though that may be to believe. She didn't thoroughly dox Schemmel. Again, that happens - and that should have been uncovered by the supposedly thorough Task Force.

Well I would be more inclined to agree with you if I had not read another article by the same reporter which had similar problems. I think she obtained the information from somewhere because I am finding it hard to believe, based on her past performance, that she dug it out herself. The only question is, who would have benefited by providing her with the information.

I don't see how either has any information other than what is publicly available in the Carr report. How could Swartz be biased? Maybe if the other guy is an ex Carr guy, then yes, he could use the same techniques as Carr. But Carr even said the we're only funneled down a narrow pathway and weren't asked to look at everything.

This article proves to me that Kelsey Stein is being utilized to push articles from the Watzis.

Also hilarious that Bakken mentions having "confidence" in something. Look, we're f***ed either way here, so might as well let Schwarz rip em a new one and get paid for it. It's not like Watts will issue a mea culpa and put everything back the way it was. We all know the ATF is a big fat Crimson herring.

I don't think Stein's is a Watts plant. I have spoken to her a few times since Dec 2nd and during the Board of trustees meeting. She's throwing out what she gets. If it's 4 reporters I trust right now it's Stein, Scarbinsky, Archibald, and Whitmire (with an i).
