Reports on twitter that 3star QB Tylin Oden who recently decommitted from Louisville was on an official visit to UT this week.

Yes it is. He has not been getting recruited by Toledo anymore. He was set to sign with a DII school before getting a couple of recent offers.....one was BG.

You don't suppose recruiting our castoffs has anything to do wit that six year long dry spell do you?

6 year dry spell? As much as I hate to say it, BG I believe has won a couple MAC Championship over those 6 years. I would trade those BG victories for a Championship any day. Years from now, that's what is remembered. Championships.
bgsuCKS wouldn't have made it to a championship game if they played in the West instead of the Least. I'll take our 6 wins.

8 days before signing day and we lose these two kids to schools like that???? 01-wingedeagle

What gives?

I wouldn't call it big losses.

RE: 2016 Football Recruiting Thread
A first year coach like Candle may find it best to go after Junior College transfers and fifth year senior transfers. Reuben Carter and Milligan worked out great last year. Ely was also a nice transfer pickup for 2 seasons.

Any word on whether UT wants Sylvania's Gant since Michigan did not give him a scholarship for his fifth year. The big question is: would he be better than the guys we have now?

Seriously, just like your Hillary topic.......some people are into that stuff and have premium subscriptions to services while others don't and could care less. No reason for "good for them" comments to those that do premium subscriptions. They are Rocket fans just like you and me.

Isn't that a Rivals site, not sure how GTS would respond to the shameless self promotion on this board. Share the information, don't bait people on Brian.

Don't get too worried. There's was no shameless self promotion and no baiting. I never posted a link to TheRocketNation or any other site. I never told people they should go to TheRocketNation or purchase a subscription there. Because the information I have is for premium subscribers there I simply cannot go into detail. I did however drop a hint that someone could probably find some of the information by doing the work by searching through free sites.

I've given some good info on this thread here and there and not promoted myself or Rivals at all.

If that is considered shameless self promotion and/or baiting people then that is just astounding.

Not sure, but if you ever figure it out let me know. I heard they produce more freely available content about UT football than any other media outlet. 03-wink

I've also heard they've got a guy covering Rocket football there that has covered UT football longer than anyone else (since 2000) other than ToledoRockets.com's Mark Myers. Uh-oh, I think I just gave a shameless plug to Mark's site. Man I'm bad at this.

That very first play in the video--I used to love it when Gradkowski would do that.

Oden would be perfect here. A serious running threat and a strong enough arm to get it downfield. Reminds me of Bolden. Man, I hope we get him.

If we get Oden that'd be great, if we don't fine I'm alright with the quarterbacks we have now. Although the kid is very impressive and would be a huge get that'd we'd love to have. Oden does visit Rutgers on January 29th.

Moot point at about 6:00 PM a week from tomorrow I suspect. By the way and in the meantime, I'd highly recommend the new Amazon series "Mad Dogs". Binge watched all 10 episodes this past weekend, quite entertaining.

Spring Hill (Columbia) is just south of Nashville. There is actually some very good high school football there in Tennessee. Thing is density or numbers are not there. In some places every kid in a county goes to the only high school located in that county. For instance, my cousins all attended Campbell County High School. (There is a 2nd high school in Jellico but it's on the other side of the Cumberland Mountain range and for safety in the winter they operated it there.)
Tennessee High School football players practice more than Ohio and Michigan high school players do.
There is spring practice which lasts 4 or 6 weeks and includes 2 scrimmages (jamborees: multiple schools).
7 on 7 passing skeletons during the summer.
Fall practice before regular season which includes 2 scrimmages vs. a single team and another fall jamboree.
Then a 10 game season and up to 6 rounds of playoffs. (if you finish in the top 4 in your district you qualify for post season.)

The kid has play some ball....

Also, I wonder if he has family near by here in Toledo. Spring Hill was where the GM Saturn plant was and many General Motor employees and their families transferred and moved there from Michigan and the Midwest in the late '80's.

Had family that was in management with Saturn in Spring Hill. They recently moved back to the Jersey Shore where UT has an offer to a 2017 QB.

Michigan has a couple of decommits because Harbaugh would not guarantee them scholarships, only PWO status. Toledo and of course Iowa State has offered at least one of them. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
