RE: 2016 Football Recruiting Thread
I personally like Neru N'Shaka, James Jackson, Obi Anunike, Desmond Phillips and Calvin Jackson at wide receiver over Jalen Martin. Martin is a heck of a talent, but Anunike's size and the others speed is better than Martin, IMO. I really think Martin was going to have a hard time staying at WR at Toledo. At ISU, he will probably play immediately.

This is reassuring. Personally, I'm really excited to see Desmond Phillips in action. Already enrolled in the University as an early enrollee so he gets a head start to compete for playing time as a true freshman.

RE: 2016 Football Recruiting Thread
Although I know it's fun and cathartic to pick on Campbell for signing Rocket recruits, don't forget that it was a team of Rocket recruits that beat ISU last year, so they might just be an upgrade for the school. Also, ISU has no history of signing 4 and 5 star recruits. They will have to build up some winning before they can move up the recruiting ladder.

The more I think about it. The more this looks like what we saw a few years back. Illinois, ISU. Is it possible that both places are deadends? Unless your an exceptional coach. And I don't feel Campbell is exceptional. He was as good as a new coach could be. Especially for his age. He has no recruiting connections in that area. Iowa certainly is not a hot bed for talent .

RE: 2016 Football Recruiting Thread
Campbell got his first 4 star commit at Iowa State this evening. An OL player that was originally committed to Minnesota. He needs many more 4 star AND 5 star prospects if he is going to be able to compete with the likes of Oklahoma, TCU, Oklahoma State, and Baylor.

NEW VERBAL COMMIT
OL Luke Doerger out of 2-time defending state champ Cincinnati La Salle High School.
6'3" - 310 lbs.
Held other offers from Iowa State, Marshall, Navy, Army, Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Penn, Darmouth, Princeton, etc.
Originally committed to Toledo back in July but apparently reopened his recruitment, only to again verbally commit to Toledo. Let's hope he actually sticks pen to paper with the name Toledo on it come February 3.

Sarcasm? Harvard, Yale, Army, Ivy League. I do hope he sticks with us.

You needed to ask? Big body coming out of HS. Offers aren't to any good football schools, though.

50 career starts, Co-Captain, All-GCL, son of an OL Coach who played at Notre Dame. Luke wants to study Engineering at UT. Just the type of player that can be a great Rocket.

Doerger never actually de-committed from Toledo. He received an offer from Iowa State in December and was a little interested, but after his visit to Toledo this past weekend he reconfirmed his commitment with Toledo and cancelled his visit to ISU.

Former Rocket standout Darryl Meadows who played DE for the Rockets in the early 80s and was all conference, coaches at his HS. They are two-time defending D II state champs. Hopefully, Coach Meadows had some pull for us.

You mentioned Meadows as a DE, I was thinking to myself, that is not right, he was a DB. After a quick search he played DB in 1980 & DE in 81 & 82, so I guess we are both right. Looks like he was a SS in the NFL.
He played at LaSalle and is back there coaching now. A continuing in roads into Cincinnati would be huge.
Another interesting fact both Darryl Meadows and former Rocket Mel Tucker members of CFD. Ran into Tucker at Kroger's in Hyde Park a few years back, he stopped me, because I was wearing Rocket gear.

Yea, Tuck was the FB during the 81-83 seasons, and Meadows was so athletic. Not only were those two really good football players, they are also great people!!

Interesting tweet tonight from former 3* commit Tyrece Speaight (now a Miami University commit).
From Speaights Twitter: I'll always love Rocket Nation and my brothers going. Always have a special place in my heart.
Zach Harig believes Speaight will decide on signing day if he'll go to Toledo or Miami.
