RE: Vote for Mod
I have my own opinion on who would be good for you guys, but its your poll, so I give you the power.
I just ask that you guys remember that a mod has a very difficult job that very few regular posters will ever know the full details of. There's no super secret club, and the vast majority of us don't enjoy wielding almighty power of destruction. At some point, you guys will probably complain very openly about the mod you elect. At some point some of you may even get warnings from the mod you elect. Be patient with them. But looking at that list, you've got four excellent choices who would represent you guys well.
Just my 2 cents

Thanks Chief. Everyone seems to realize the importance of how to be a responsible mod. Good advice. Having all people agree on the same topic is a challenge.

RE: Vote for Mod
Thanks to Liberty_Fan for creating the poll. It seemed the wise move request with him not participating with the election.

Thanks for taking the time to come here and get us pointed in the right direction. If I were elected as a mod then I would greatly appreciate any advice or direction that you would provide.

As a longtime board owner/admin and global mod, I echo the sentiments of chiefsfan. But I like the democratic nature of this process. Bully to all the candidates.

RE: Vote for Mod
Guys, I can't even see the poll because I only access the board on my phone using the app, but I'm told I'm not only in this poll but leading. I'm flattered, but seeing as I work a lot and can't access the site by pc while at work, I'd likely be a terrible mod. This is a big commitment and I just don't think I can do it. Thanks.

This is a good point, you basically cannot moderate from your phone.

Is there a way for the poll to be reset with the three remaining candidates?

Seems like we may have omitted one of the pertinent factors when having elections, that is to make sure that the nominee agrees to be nominated. If KH is unable to run as Mod do we close this poll and start another one? Chief, your thoughts as a Mod.

RE: Vote for Mod
I would close this and start another. Also make the new poll available for everyone to see who voted for who. We wouldn't want a flood of non-Liberty folk coming and screwing up our mod vote like we do with their polls.

To be ultimately fair...yes You should dump this thread and start another one. You also need to make sure everyone accepts their nominations before you start a poll in the first place
Problem is, you've got people who voted for knucklehead who would not have their votes counted.

Yes, votes need to be made public. Nromally, it's not a big deal because Moderators can see every vote regardless if its public or not, but you don't have a mod, so no one can see. If no one knows how to do that, PM me, and I'll get you set up.

Agreed. Seems like the logical answer. Liberty_Fan, let's end/delete/close the post and set up another one since KH is unable to be a Mod.

If I was to also make a suggestion...you should appoint a neutral observer to keep an eye on the results and make sure there are no "hinky votes" or anything. (trolls, JMU fans, multiple user accounts...etc) and report the final results to GTS. The person should not be someone actively running for mod, and should be someone without a vested interest in who wins.

Is a Mod from another board best or someone within the LU group best? I assume any Mod can view the results or is it only the poster and GTS? Since you've been a friendly visitor to the site, would you be interested? It seems best to have this open conversation rather than a PM that's private.

It does not matter. Usually, its whoever starts the poll itself...because that person controls opening and closing the thread etc. I'm about to be locked inside by 3 inches of sleet tomorrow, so I could do it, but I'm not doing anything unless you guys are all okay with it.
The only advantage I have is that I know how to set a poll to close, and how to make sure votes are public. But that's something any of you could easily learn.

Liberty_Fan set up or poll at my request as I was a nominee. Let's see if he is willing to do it and can. If so, we can proceed. If he choose not to, I'll place a post and send PM to members alerting them what it being recommended. If anyone has an objection, we can address that. If not, we'll ask you to proceed. Thanks for offering. That's commendable on your part.
