Tulsa WBB gives UC WBB a ride home
Nice to see a fellow league member help another one out.

TULSA, Okla - Thanks to snow and ice in the Dallas area, the University of Cincinnati women's basketball team was having a hard time making it back to Cincinnati after earning a 56-46 win over SMU on Saturday afternoon. UC's flights both Saturday night and Sunday morning were cancelled and the Bearcats were left with limited options for making it back to Cincinnati for the team's contest against The University of Tulsa on Monday night.

Thankfully, the Tulsa women's basketball team came to the rescue, graciously inviting the Bearcats to join them on their charter flight from Tulsa to the Queen City. Cincinnati made the four-hour trek from Dallas to Tulsa in time to hop on the plane.

The two squads will face off Monday night inside Fifth Third Arena, tipping off at 7 p.m.

Key take-away is Tulsa's Basketball Team flies charter....Tulsa's WOMEN'S TEAM.

Flying charter is now the norm for most top men's programs but the ability to have even women's teams occasionally fly charter is a big recruiting tool.

Some may not realize that for a normal night/late afternoon game...those trips for teams that fly commercial are 3 days, 2 nights long....and when you have to take 10-13 road trips over a season, those add up. (Ex: Wed night game...travel commercial to location on Tuesday, usually mid-day flight so that day is wasted in regards to class time...play game on Wed night....then fly out on Thursday morning...get back to your campus probably early Thursday afternoon).

Being able to use the charter flight benefit on the recruiting trail is HUGE...as when you can tell a HS player that even for your road games, you will be back in your bed that same night is HUGE.

Tulsa uses charter flights for their women's basketball? Jeez, we can't afford that for even our men's team. 03-banghead

Charter flights have always been on DJ's wish list...as he is trying to recruit against programs that DO fly charter...and that is a competition he can't win.

DJ is still on a small purse string budget yet fans that don't buy tix/donate to the program expect him to compete/win vs programs that do have $$$/Charter Flights/Fan support, etc....

I guess not having charter flights also explains his piss poor coaching, too.

We've been doing this for some time, it really helps with academics.

Ya I'm surprised it's not the norm, at least for the men!

Do the UCF men fly commercially to every road game?
