Paxton Lynch?
There is a lot of love for both Lynch and Keil as the top QB this coming season. I have seen Keil play and he is really good. I have only seen Lynch a handful of times and would like to know what to expect this up coming year.

I know he has great size, throws well, and can run well but that's about it.

What other attributes will make him the top QB this year and what things does he still need to work on towards being the best?

Also, does he have the offensive line to give him the time?

RE: Paxton Lynch?
My only concern about Lynch now is avoiding injury. He needs to start sliding feet-first into tackles instead of diving head-first like a full-back. The offensive line should be fine - only lost one starter. The special teams, which were superb last season, will also be back. The big question is defense, where we lost 8 salty starters plus the coordinator. Whether the young replacements + a number of touted JC transfers can keep us in games remains to be seen.

Continued progression as a college QB. His praise is worthy after this year.

Yep, he's by no means a finished product. This year he will have so many weapons and should put up gaudy stats.

Look out for Keenan Reynolds at Navy too.

His 3rd year as a starter...he has his best recievers to date...good OLine and ridiculous depth at RB will keep defenders from pinning the ears back. Offense will be very good. D is very uncertain

RE: Paxton Lynch?
The defense is being highly underestimated here. We are replacing starters with players that got lots if reps in real game situations. By no means will they come out the gates taking names. We will probably have 3-4 players who might be starting in their first D1 game. Heck one of our guys vying for a starting position made the game winning interception against BYU.

When I see Lynch play, I think a more mobile Ben Rothlisberger(sp). Dude is big, mobile, and has a nice arm. For him to improve, I guess he can work on accuracy and reading defenses faster. If I remember our Houston game last year, there were a few of drops by Memphis receivers, so if his receivers improve, things could get nasty for defenses facing Memphis.

Yep, and that was his worse game. Our receivers dropped a lot of passes last year.

They fixed that issue after the Ole Miss game though. The receivers starting catching more than dropping after Fuente put Craig on special teams and Mayhue as a starter. Tevin Jones still has the jury out on him but he will be a senior this season so let's see what he does.

I don't think he threw another interception the rest of the regular season. Worst game by far was against Houston. I'm not saying Houston didn't have something to do with that, don't get me wrong

That game was a wake up call for the whole team but especially Paxton. You could tell when we went up 14-0 we started looking cocky like we had arrived. We didn't look focused and Houston took advantage.

RE: Paxton Lynch?
A couple of my concerns are that he throws some balls that would be more effective it they had some touch on the ball, rather than being on a line. Also, he has a tendency to throw off his back foot and not become set on his release. He will be a junior this fall, so I expect some improvement in these areas as he will be more experienced.

More like Flacco, there is only 1 Big Ben. Most unique QB I have seen play over the years.

lynch is a sophmore who has 25 starts under his belt. his decision making greatly improved in 2014 but he still has to be better - when he makes a mistake, its usually a doozie (see houston & byu games). he's got a ton of talent and a good head and good coaching. i dont think he's going to be ready for the nfl after next season, but as a 4 year starter, he's a solid first round guy in the '17 nfl draft. i do know that memphis got brady davis in this years class as insurance that lynch does leave after next season.

Lynch will have a great season. Memphis will compete with Cincy to win the East. Lynch just needs to watch those big mistakes..
