USF recruiting
We may be down, but it cant be for long...
Football - Second year in a row we achieved the top ranked AAC recruiting class and filled many of our needs.
Soccer - College soccer news ranks USFs signing class as #3 in the nation. Just a couple years ago we ended in the elite 8 and with the elite talent we brought in, we will be back very soon.
Basketball - depending on which service, USF had the highest rated class theyve ever had plus picked up a 5 star transfer.
W. Basketball - didnt have a class ranked because we are only losing 1 person off our top 25 ranked team.
In time, the major uptick in recruiting is going to pay off.

Don't see it happening in football. Taggart has brought in more talent but I don't think he has enough time left to see the benefits. Next year will most likely be a mediocre year with the year after being the best chance for anything better than that. Gotta be able to develop the talent you bring in.

RE: USF recruiting
You probably have the best football talent in the conference but without recruiting or developing a QB I just don't see any better than 6-6.

I think Taggart will be gone if he doesn't do better than 6-6 and usif would be lucky to do that well next year. IF they could just get a qb maybe. That would be 10 wins in 3 seasons. We almost tied that just last year lol IF only they could develop all that talent lolz

Can't wait to see USF winning FSU and Tulane becoming the best football college from LA.

"20. Penn State - Everything in Happy Valley changed when U20 National Team Center back Robert Sagel decided to transfer from Temple, he helped make a good class turn into a very good class."

In college football you need a solid QB and good coach to win. I don't think usf has either right now.

Paper recruiting champions. Congratulations. Still hasn't proven a damn thing on the field.

I'm not sure high school "rankings" matter for transfers. 5 stars sometimes turn into 2 stars.

He wouldn't transfer if he was really that good. Even storm Johnson transferred because he wanted to be the guy but couldn't beat out duke Johnson. Our gain because at best he would have split carries with duke Johnson vs getting 80 percent of ours. This guy probably wants to be the guy but wasn't good enough to do it where he was.

Id beg to differ. Our recruiting in all sports has gotten significantly better since we upgraded basically everything.
Weve already seen dividends in Womens Basketball and Mens soccer, which both have had long term stable coaching.
Now we have brand new Baseball, Basketball and 2nd year football. Given a little more time, I think those coaches develop the new talent and do very well with it.
and for all the UCiF fans making jokes about football... just take a look what Oliar did his first two years in a much easier conference. It took him time too. I still believe in Taggart and hope he gets at least two years. Skippy killed the program. It cant be fixed over night.
I tend to agree. the Jury is still out on Taggart. He took over a dumpster fire, much like Oleary did. No reason in the world USF should not be a good football program.

He took over WKU when it was a total mess and turned it around. He made a big mistake here by trying to be a power run team. We could do that if we recruited like Florida and FSU. Instead, we land the top of the second tier. Many of our kids are amazing athletes but not made for that type of offense. With us switching to a spread offense and our defense moving to a 5-4-2 I think well be taking much better advantage of the talent we have on the field.

But hasn't Taggart been recruiting towards a power run based offense his first two recruiting classes? Wouldn't he be in the same situation he was in before having players the don't fit the system he is trying to run and having to learn yet another new playbook and scheme.

If you look at this class and the past ones you will see that we have gotten many WRs around 6 ft tall that are quick and fit more the spread offense.
I don't think you will see USF 100% in the spread because we are developing a stronger offensive line and have the running backs to run a power game but I think you will see some three receivers set at times.
