RE: So who's your guy from 2015's recruiting class?
Josh Corcoran looks big and fast, and we'll need him his RS Freshman year. Already at 6'3" 219lb LB in HS.

No one mentions Santa in this thread. He could well be our starter and running this whole offense in a couple years. I never saw him play, but it just does not sound like people are high on him for whatever reason.

Carey seemed to be drooling over the kid from Iowa in both his press conference and afterwards in the interview with Andy G.

i like how Carey spoke about DJ Brown. He said that Brown recruited them first. Brown came up to visit on his own, and his family seemed to have a plan for his recruiting. Then he stuck with us. Obviously has the character traits we are looking for and looks to be the next DEUCES or maybe an everyday back.

It is strange, but I think it is because the majority of us really wanted Ingold. It was easy to draw the similarities between him and Lynch. Then you research it a bit, and Santacaterina is a 3 star recruit, who was rated higher than every recruit in this class other than Spears. ESPN had him rated higher than Root, Hare, Maddie and even Ingold. Again, only time will tell. He sure looks athletic in his highlight film.
The one position that looks strong now and well into the future is LB.

RE: So who's your guy from 2015's recruiting class?
Pugh. I think he's a 3-4 year starter once boomer graduates. I love his film and seems like a leader. His high school team has been perennially awful and he had them in the playoffs and competitive. Coaches raved about his work ethic and leadership. A lot to love.
How about a biggest bust for it and giggles?
Has to be one of the higher rated players so I'll say DJ Brown. Obviously a lot to like but I see a situation where Jones and Sutton Smith end up being a better fit, working harder and winning the reps. I even see Hoosman being a potential guy that breaks the rotation. Crowded. DJ may end up playing a poor man's Duecee role.
Carey was crushing on Smith comparing him to a white kid that was a good running back for IU in the 90's. I think he has high hopes for the Mizzou poty.

The Kyle Pugh video reminded me of watching Martel Moore's. I have no idea what he was rated (Tel wasn't highly rated), but I just remember watching their videos and thinking holy **** this guy is good.

I believe DJ Brown will be the STUD of this recruiting class. Glad to see the coaching staff is emphasizing "speed" in their recruiting search. We signed 6 DB's, but I'd like to see some more size at this position, both height and weight.

My guy? The Preferred walk on - I believe we could get 2 starters from that group.

I agree, the focus was on Ingold and Santa looks tough, and we know he comes from good pedigree. Love the clip where he lowered his shoulder and took the db head on. I am excited about Santa.
Also, mentioned it in another post...Hlava and I like Sutton Smith a lot!

Crawford is very intriguing to me. He could be an interesting player lined up in the slot or as a natural TE.

I do not know who will be the best over the next 4-5 years. I am going to pick 1 guy on offense and 1 guy on defense who I think will have the most impact. On offense I believe that we need help at RB and this position, along with WR is the "easiest" to break in. My choice is D.J. I think both he and the coaches expect him to alternate carries with the rock. On defense, I am going to go with Marcus Kelly DE. He is 6'3" and went from 230 lbs. to 250 lbs. This is an area of need. I see him replacing Jason Meehan or moving inside[on occasion] in a change of pace rotation @ DT. I think both of these guys see the field as true freshmen. JMHO.
I did say "alternate" carries. The days of 1 guy doing all the heavy lifting lead to injuries.
Better not tell Jordan Huff that, he bided his time this year.
[/quote
I like Jordan Huff a lot. There were just not enough carries for all the RB's last year. The key word in my thoughts was "alternate" carries to avoid injuries. I see these 2 as No.'s 1 and 2.
It will be interesting to see what the RB depth chart looks like for sure. We lost 2 in Stingily and Daniels, but we have talent coming right back in to replace them.
Bouagnon and Huff should be the top 2 returning. KHJ's injury situation is unclear at this point and can't forget about Draco. Still, one of the incoming class could see playing time depending on the injury situation.
They'll all play. I would imagine KHJ is going to play a similar role he had in 2013 before he got hurt. In most/all 3rd down and passing situaitons he'll be in. I think KHJ is a good player, but it's just hard to see him staying healthy at this point. A 4th guy whether it's Draco or whoever better be ready to go.

RE: So who's your guy from 2015's recruiting class?
The thing I like about this class is so many guys appear to have a lot of potential. This class has fewer guys I could struggle seeing contribute than any I can remember. Really, that's what it's all about too. You know some guys won't make it for various reasons, but this is an odds game and it seems like this class has more legitimate tickets for the draw than any I've seen.
The other thing I notice about this class is the speed. Even guys I haven't seen mentioned in here like Sutton Smith and Adam Buirge can absolutely fly. Clearly a point of emphasis this year.

Great post. Looking at highlights of Pugh, he is an example of a kid with a huge upside; all the skills and instincts to make an impact at any program...but decided on NIU

Santa is another kid with a huge upside. Based on his top plays Hudl highlight film, he has some swag; and makes things happen. Maybe he can learn from Hare how to be less of a, as 7 says... "gunslinger".

What better testament to the growth and success of the program, than to get a talented kid like Hlava to give up a scholarship offer to accept a Walk on offer from us.

Max Morris looks damn good to me. Looks like a BIG frame, something we've desperately needed for years: more beef on the D-Line.

I really do not know about Brown. I will say that Huff is the one kid I'm most excited to see. He reminds me a bunch of Chad. It sounds like from some of Carey's that he either doesn't practice well or has a poor work ethic. He's my bet to bust out next season.
I will guess Crawford to have the biggest impact out of the freshman.

Marcus Jones. To me his speed in the video was noticeable before I knew that he was supposed to be one of the fast guys. He looks like he can accelerate through a small seam before it closes up, and maybe make a LB miss after that. We've been missing that.

Very cool that DJ Brown stuck with us after Arkansas State put on a hard push for him late. Brown visited Jonesboro the weekend before Signing Day, but stuck with the Huskies.
