Thinking back to Steve's hire,
I think it was a good move at the time. The program had progressed under Porter, and Steve was his head assistant and had some success as a juco coach. In a successful program, or one that is improving, and the coach leaves, sometimes it makes sense to hire the top assistant. There's nothing wrong with hiring from within if the program is doing well and the new coach has been a part of that success. So I've never felt that Steve shouldn't have been hired in the first place. He's done a reasonable job through the years but the program hasn't made much progress in many years. And sometimes a coach needs a change as much as a program needs one. So like MJS and Jim T I will support the program no matter who the coach is.
Only difference is that I believe a change is necessary and they don't seem to really think so. That's o.k. As it has been pointed out, what I think is right and what they think is right doesn't really matter until Chasse asks us to help him make a decision. Then it might matter.
That will probably happen at the same time President Obama calls us and asks our advice on the middle east situation!01-lauramac2
