You could also compare a 14 year old from that era, to a 25 year old from this era, and 9 times out of 10, the 14 year old would be more self sufficient and mature.

True, but more often the 14 year old getting married in that era was a daughter married off to a 25 year old man by the father in exchange for a couple of acres and 20 cows. The gays don't want that either. They simply want full access to our children and for them to have the legal ability to consent.

Absolutely.

So let's use some gay logic... Buck's hubby looks better than Tom's, so why does Buck get to screw the better looking guy while Tom doesn't? How fair is that? Sex equality... It's coming.

We have no one to blame but ourselves for extending their childhoods. The way many parents coddle their children, there is basically no incentive to EVER leave home. Even during college my dad told me I was a guest in his home when I came home. When I graduated my old room was a guest room and there was no evidence in it that I ever lived there.

Really? I bet he looks back and appreciates it. My parents threw me out of the house in September after graduating in May and still not having a job. I had enough money for a security deposit, got a job selling clothes at Dillard's within 2 days, and that was the best thing that could have happened to me (lit a fire under my arse). Touchy feely parenting has proven ineffective. Me thinks you are portraying your own daddy issues on others.

That's right. It seems like kids these days run their parents. It's pathetic.

Not if you're Abraham Lincoln, it isn't. You do know Lincoln was actually considering having the Chief Justice arrested and imprisoned, at one point, don't you?

I know Taney issued that ruling as a Circuit Court judge rather than the Supreme Court Chief Justice...moreover, I don't think you can just arrest a sitting judge at the Supreme Court...maybe back then.

But yeah, Ex parte Merryman is a pretty crazy case.

Nope, it wasn't for any ruling he made as a Circuit Court judge. It was because as Chief Justice of the SCOTUS he wasn't quietly sitting by as Lincoln continued to suspend Habeas Corpus. Lincoln ROUTINELY imprisoned people for not agreeing with him. A whole body of Maryland legislators, he had imprisoned for nothing more than talking about the possibility of secession. They had committed no crime whatsoever. Lincoln didn't like the heat that the Chief Justice was putting on him by not just winking at Lincoln's illegal actions, and wanted to take the law into his own hands to have the Chief Justice arrested.

The IMPORTANT thing here is to destroy states rights, while letting a handful of people decide that the state constitution is unconstitutional... kind of an oxymoron....
