RE: ODU Thread
Compared to earlier games in the OOC season, the last two games have been wayyyyyyy up.

That sounds about right. I think the student attendance was down a bit today from Thursday, but the season ticket sections were filled in as well as I've seen this year.

That's what happens when you start winning again. You don't fill arenas with teams under .500.

I was very happy about that, too!
Doug Bell is still a dyck though. And it was the guy announcing the game with Bell that kept referring to UAB as "Birmingham". Thought it was cool.

That was the most complete game we've played under Haase. If this is what he's been building toward, I feel one helluva lot better about him.

This. I think our early season stumbles and the distraction created by the football mess hurt our attendance.

They were deep. 34 points in the paint. 28 points off of the bench. 70% from the field. 70% from three point range. 92% from the free throw line. They attempted only seven shots from three point range, and made five, which I think is much more suitable for this athletic team. They "took it to the rack". They had 14 assists and six blocked shots, scored 8 points on fast breaks. They used the shot clock wisely. They strategically kept the lead. Very, very impressive for a team who has been dubbed as "the youngest team in America".

I'm really proud of the guys. I knew that they'd get better as they calmed down and developed chemistry, but even I didn't expect them to come out the gates doing this well in the second part of the season. That tepid perimeter offense is now making things way easier for themselves, and that defense that worried me is now extremely active.
Of course, no one can hang a hat on a team coming out shooting this well but it's also a mark of how comfortable they are.
I kind of feel bad for ODU, though. I was expecting them to slap around some teams in conference, probably drop one or two, and put up a decent enough showing to get an at large bid. Now they need to win the tournament as much as we do.
