Tulsa should be 10-0 before SMU comes to town if we can get a win @ Tulane.

Pretty amazing what Haith has done with this team after we lost to SE Oklahoma.

It's okay to swallow your pride and accept that Tulsa is talented and is cerainly a better coached team than Memphis. 04-jawdrop

No one is denying that at all. We're just not as well coached/talented as in the past and it a bit uncomfortable. Frankly, I think that most of us have been pretty humble about it in offering honest congratulations on wins. I'm bit surprised by what I perceive to be your comment otherwise.

My tongue in cheek comments weres in regards to the above highlighted, which comes across as anything but gracious, rather continous dissing of Tulsa basketball by some Memphis fans. Tulsa has a solid basketball tradition, and IMO one a bit more deserving than "unacceptable". Not trying to be a wise guy, just stating a point.

TX

Agree a surprising number of Memphis fans have been anything but gracious in the their comments about Tulsa. Excepting OldTiger and Ramen Tiger. I have had to really bite my tongue to keep from returning the Dissing.

Wait a minute. The only post I made was simply congratulating Tulsa. :)

No idea. I know Pastner is aware of him, but he's not the kind of player we usually recruit. Tough-nosed, fundamentally sound, plays defense like his life depends on it, never stops no matter what, drop-dead shooter, very respectful of the coach, but not a high-flying acrobat with athletic skills that let him do Sportscenter worthy dunks. He's the kind of kid who will stick daggers in you from long-range, but isn't going to posterize anybody. The top Top 5 teams who might offer him value that kind of player, but we don't.

It's damned frustrating for me that we aren't even recruiting him. This year he is having to play some point, which he is not, but is still putting up about 20 a night (that's a guess on my part based on the box scores I read).

I hear you. Fundamentally sound teams kill Pastner.

He goes for the athletic AAU kind of guy, thinking he can retro-actively instill fundamentals, or the high-level transfer to fit a specific need, and if they also come with fundamentals, great. But if not, fundamentals are secondary to perceived athletic talent. Thus, Kuran Iverson, all the talent in the world, but no skills whatsoever.

Almost all recruits come from AAU, and probably lack fundamentals for the college game. It's up to the coach to correct this style of playing.

I'm not a insider, but he seems too stubborn and the players act like whatever he says goes in one ear and out the other. The players that respond seem to improve but most don't and therefor digress in the college game. You can blame the players but when this happens on almost every player, then the coach is to blame.

Regarding Memphis, it seems to me y'all tried to "out streetball" teams in the past few years. I think that has boiled down to lacking in the floor leadership aspect. That's just an outside observers opinion who hasn't watched all your games so take it for what you paid for it.

^ that might be the most retarded thing I've ever read....

Nah Kentucky will probably lose in the tourney where they start seeing quality teams from the ACC or Big 10

Not all AAU guys lack fundamentals. The kid I'm talking about played on M33M last summer with Skal Labissiere. He was the second leading scorer, but has been taught the right way outside of AAU. It's one reason he went to Mike Miller's team after playing for Team Penny the previous summer, because he did have fundamentals. But you are correct that MOST AAU players only know street ball and think their **** doesn't stink.

It really is, but I hope our players do not get ahead of themselves. A loss to the next four teams we play will really hurt our NCAA at-large chances.

You don't know **** about basketball then. It's so "retarded" that one of Memphis more knowledgeable fans agreed with me.

03-lmfao Quoting me to make your point with that poster isn't going to get you far. We don't exactly see eye to eye on anything.
