RE: 2016/17/18 Men's Basketball Recruiting
As far as "known" offers right now we're down to Justin Turner and Kyle Hayes. I was hoping with one scholie to give that we would have a November signing for the first time in a long long time. Verbal commits shows Dailey now a member of the 2017 class. The best of the Michigan for Division I for 2016 is pretty much committed. So I don't know where Murphy is going for 2016 JUCO? Prep? reformation project?

I read an article on Turner and EMU wasn't listed as a school recruiting him hardest.
I would assume that the staff is going hardest for big men, as they are the hardest to find. I also would not be disappointed if the staff waits until April. By then they'll know how the newcomers are panning out.
IF a scholarship comes open in April, that could be for a guard or maybe a SF.
The question, as '79 implies, is if a big man is the top priority are we looking JUCO and if so then does it become a spring signing (most JUCOs don't sign in November).
BTW, I do have a monthly subscription to jucorecruiting.com so I'm monitoring what is happening in JUCO land. I'm awaiting a top 100 list of JUCO sophs. Thought they indicated they'd have it after summer...

I'd like to know a bit more about Hayes, I know Steve Bell had a thread that listed him as top unsigned 2016 senior.
Found this don't know how old this is, we would have luxury of redshirting him if he signs with us.

I looked his ranking up on a website which ranks over 150 MI players. Based on his placement he would be a good fit at the MAC level. Not a candidate for high majors or mid-major plus schools. Somewhat higher ranked than Nobles was as a senior.
One senior PF whom no one is talking but has a mid-major or mid-major plus type ranking is Kelvon Fuller of Oak Park. Think he has moved around, but still he should be getting more ink than he is...
I believe he is the best uncommitted big man in this year's senior class...

I'm surprised about Fuller. Another recruiting service has him top 10 in MI.
I don't understand why not more publically shown interest... Who knows what we don't know.
There is so much going on behinds the scenes that we don't know.
BTW, we are what 7-days away from signing day.
If you look below the u-tube presentation someone named Mila suggests that there is a warrant out for his arrest in Grand Rapids.

I saw an article about serious academic issues at Oak Park. Fuller was named.

Yes.
Good stats at a very good JUCO conference. Sounds like we need. A high skill PF.
My question: will he graduate in Spring 2016. I'm assuming he wasn't a qualifier out of h.s./prep school.
Not on Glen Oaks CC roster, not sure where Poplar landed maybe still at Seward?

Here are the MI C.C. rosters. No Poplar.

Not at Seward...

P.S. if anyone finds an EMU recruit who signs this week, they are missing their calling in life: CIA, NSA, etc. Might be easier to find ISIS than EMU recruits...

RE: 2016/17/18 Men's Basketball Recruiting
No news, but I continue to mull what we need with our one scholarship:
For 2016/17 I see Thompson backed up by LWH at center. LWH was listed as a center by Murphy in the yearbook I read. I'll put him there.
I've heard that Madray is a true stretch four. So 'that is that.' Why try to play him at center? Nobles is very young and the only backup at '4' for next year.
To me all of this means:
Best priority: PF.
2nd priority: SF.
We seem over-stocked at guard so I do NOT see a guard at all. We might be having SGs like Price and Perry playing the '3' because there is no one behind Bond there.
So these lists of guards from Verbalcommit.com are all kind of N/A after we signed a bunch of guards in April.
Recruiting needs are not static. They change. What happens in April affects the next recruiting class.
One kid we, and everyone else, wanted this spring/summer, Dailey (Ohio), is a SF, but he got reclassified to being a 2017 recruit. He apparently wants to go high major.

RE: 2016/17/18 Men's Basketball Recruiting
Watching today's game I really, really appreciate how the staff handles recruiting.
Stone committed in Feb.
I believe Mangum was the next to commit and was probably late March or early April (brain is a little fuzzy).
Next was LWH and Toney. Believe them visited and committed the same weekend.
Next Ajayi flew the coup and we used that scholarship and gave it to transfer Madray.
Next, Samuels left school and during summer we gave that scholarship to Thompson.
Couldn't have gotten a much better outcome. Thompson is an absolute steal. I believe Madray will be the stretch four we've been looking for years. Mangum, Toney and LWH will be good cogs in the team. Stone is for the future.
I'm very happy the staff didn't panic and 'reach' for a player who really is a D-II player.

Dieng whom I believe we offered early on has left the WMU team.

I saw that on the WMU board.
I would guess it is not-related to basketball (or why leave after one game? Why not transfer at mid-year?).
Is he dropping out of school (like he is giving up his scholarship by quitting basketball) for one reason or another? I wonder if there are personal reasons for his decision, e.g., family, etc.
Apparently the folks on the WMU board think he has more potential than I (correctly or incorrectly, I downplayed his potential).
