Tosin Mehinti is now #10 on the All time Block list
His four blocks tonight moved him into a tie for #10 with Brandon Tobias.
1. OGG, Alan (86-90) 266
2. MOORE, Cameron (08-12) 137
3. MINCY, Jerome (82-86) 131
4. ANCHRUM, Norman (80-82) 125
5. KINNARD, Lawrence (05-09) 100
6. COLLINS, Eddie (84-88) 99
7. GORDON, Anthony (82-88) 93
8. HOLMES, Frank (04-08) 84
9. HAYWOOD, Frank (90-94) 82
10. TOBIAS, Brandon (02-06) 71
10. MEHINTI, Tosin (13- ) 71
Four blocks moved him past Will Campbell, Oliver Robinson, Donnie Speer and Igor Nikolic.
He may not pass Ogg, but I bet he will be #2 on the list by the time he leaves UAB.

Watching Mehinti and Lee on the floor together was awesome. So much shot blocking ability!

For some reason I don't remember Cameron Moore to be that big of a shot blocker. Mehinti has really gotten more aggressive in conference play.

I immediately thought the same thing about Cam when I saw the list. I would have lost that Blazer bet!

I was surprised Tobias wasn't higher on the list. Seemed like he had more blocks than that.

He had this sneaky weakside move he'd use to poke the ball out of a shooter's hands from behind.

Yeah, I remember him that season blocking a lot of shots. He had several games in which he had a large number of blocks.

Family and I attended the FIU game, and the blocks were one of the main things I noticed. Having a solid shotblocker is some fun stuff.
Took me back to the Hawks/Knicks game I attended that was Mount Mutumbo against Patrick Ewing. Even in the cheap seats, it was great watching those two go after each other.

Lee & Mehinti were swatting everything last night.

They were a force. Haha look like he knew he owned the floor last night. His ceiling is unreal. It's a shame we didn't get this win. We earned it just about every where you could except turn overs.

When was the last time we had two players with at least 4 blocks in one game? Block of the night was Lee's flat footed block in the second half where he looked at the La Tech guy like "really?". Lee needs to learn to keep them in bounds, though. That can easily be the difference in a tight game.

If you play significantly as a freshman, you really only need 1 a game to end up high on that list

Tosin's blocks always magically end up in our hands. It's the best.

Surprised to see Kinnard so high on that list. I can't remember him being a great shot blocker. I know he played a lot of minutes in his career (and many of them out of position at the 5).
Do you have the blocks in a single season rankings? I'm sure Mehinti will make that list.

Who's to say 2-10 are great shot blockers? I see one great and he has more than 150 career blocks. Can could've been the shot block like Ogg ,but he was a shot maker/taker he needed his O.
That said Lee and Mehinti are the best rim protectors we've had in a very long time, I mean very long time.

Good points. I've only been following UAB basketball since 2005, but I don't remember having any true shot blockers on the team until now.

That's about the time I said f' it I'm pulling for UaB when they beat UK and had "The Pass" after hearing all the negative about UaB. I can't tell you a single shot blocker we signed or a true enforcer, cept maybe Ken Coop.
