Agreed. We need a coordinated effort and to quickly figure out what to do next. We're going to lose some support as people start realizing football isn't coming back immediately and Watts is not going anywhere anytime soon. That's just reality. I think the No Con. vote was so huge because it forced the BOT to make a statement of whether they are with us or against us. Now it's more than obvious they are against us. If we didn't win that vote, I think it would have been a huge blow to our cause. Now the pressure is on the BOT and the state legislature (where it should be). People have been re-energized. We need to keep winning these small battles.

It's been argued that everyone needs to realize this is a long-term fight, and that everyone needs to be in for the long haul if we are going to win this. While I agree, I don't think that's totally realistic. We need to take advantage of the band-wagon supporters and media spotlight while we have it. This is going to be a long fight, and I hope that people realize that. However, for those that aren't interested in a long fight, we still need them now. I'm ok with them fully believing that this thing can be fixed very quickly, however foolish that is.

Basically I'm saying we need to figure out the next steps fast. Worst thing that could happen is that we don't take full advantage of all the media attention and casual support while it's there.

That would be pretty funny, but it won't happen. Clark has too much class to do something like that.

Liability issues would probably make that impossible. What happens to someone injured during these unapproved sessions on that knee-eating field?

The athletes still at UAB will want to keep in shape. Just saying...

Hence the reason I think we need a UAB PAC. This could be a long and ugly fight potentially. We need strong leadership out front (like Williams) but we need an coordinated effort through a unified PAC.

RE: So where do we stand?
We have won an important battle, but have a long way to go. The BOT has a much easier fight than we do. Even if the president has no confidence and we happen to get on SACS probation under his watch, all the BOT has to do is just stick with their decision to support him. Although we have won the initial battles, they really don't have to do much of anything to win the war against us.

Unfortunately this is all a part of the process. Watts claimed to have made the call so we couldn't directly attack the BOT. We have done all that we can do against Watts so the board is now the target (and rightfully so). All of these small battles will lend support for our claims of injustice but for us to win we still have to difficult tasks to influence the lawmakers to make a change in the structure of the BOT, and replace the president.

I had really hoped that the national media would have picked up this story by now and shamed the BOT and/or Alabama politicians into action especially after the no-confidence vote, but I am starting to think that they will not be a factor in this.

For us to have a chance to win we have to keep gaining support of the legislature and Alabama residents around the state.

National media is a non-factor but in-state media will continue to be.

The key to everything, IMHO.

Actually the SACS investigation can work in our favor. If UAB gets put on academic probation due to the BOT, then it makes our arguement much easier.
