what do Grant Long, Marcus Kennedy, & Theron Wilson have in common?
In my opinion poor ball movement is the problem. They always seem to be improvising on every position without a clear strategy. The result is excessive dribbling and a slow moving system with poor shot selection. Obviously there a 3 players that have the green light to shoot from anywhere on the floor and whenever they want.
I say work the ball around quicker, use the bigs in the passing game, and get some decent short range jumpers and layups. A shot jacked up from 28 foot with 15 seconds on the shot clock it not acceptable.

We have players who could score in the POST but the strategy is not to make it a priority during our offensive sets. Karrington Ward could score down in the POST, but it is not part if the offense. Maybe this is why we don't get the big time MAC offensive recruit at center????
i apologize. i overreacted.

Theron was a purely defensive player he was to wear out the other teams center and block shots any offense was just a bonus.

Super, during the 1994 NIT game Theron Wilson scored 16 points. During 1996 2nd rd game against #1 seed UConn, he scored 18 points. Like I was saying, the bigger the game, the more Theron came ready to play. Could you imagine how good we could be with a low post threat.......

You know who else was a great low post MAC player? CMU's Chris Kaman. How did Central do with Kaman there? I can't remember.

Wilson was a fantastic all around player. He did what was asked of him on offense and dominated on defense. He certainly was NO STIFF like Riley.

12 years ago. I can't imagine he'd be a CMU recruit today if he were a high school senior.
Again, you have to get lucky these days. The fact that you have to go back 12 years for the last MAC draft pick only proves that point.

RE: what do Grant Long, Marcus Kennedy, & Theron Wilson have in common?
I had a Twitter conversation with Bankhoops' Steve Bell about MAC hoops. He agreed better success result of better coaching but not better players.
I still maintain that with all of the AAU tourneys, recruiting done by private high schools, social media, etc. etc. that it is hard for a high school player NOT to get noticed. Kids don't hide in small, rural high schools where they go unnoticed. Players are being developed earlier because of the year round nature of h.s. and AAU ball. Late bloomers are now blooming earlier and earlier and get discovered. The recruit who develop during his senior year and becomes a 'hidden gem' is becoming rarer and rarer.
The MAC is, and has been, a coaches' league and they recruit them and coach them up.
I think we really need to remember that the 90s are history and what we saw then isn't likely to be seen again soon.
