This is a true evaluation by me of the rhetorical question you posed. Pastner as a person is great, he runs one of the few genuinely clean programs around, his players graduate and he is an incredible ambassador for the school. Nobody works harder than he does, and nobody takes losing worse. He also has excellent insight into how teams should play, and how to design winning game plans against teams. I 100% believe every bit of that.
What he cannot do is motivate players to give that little extra it takes to win big, and he cannot impose his will on a team the way all great coaches can. He cannot get players to buy into his vision of how to win. Sometimes a coach can make a team better than they should be by the force of his own determination and personality. Pastner cannot do that. Therefore, when adversity strikes, the structure of his team is fragile and it collapses more easily than most.
This has lead to 4 straight NCAAs and last year's season sweep of loserville, but also the deluge of disasters we have witnessed.

Don't feel sorry for us...once we bring in a real coach at the end of the year, it's game on.
You would think AAC fan would try to enjoy this time to beat up Memphis. On a real coach comes Tigers are going to eat again.

Without a doubt. It will be like a chef arriving at a failing restaurant with gourmet ingredients in the pantry

I'll be honest I don't feel bad for Memphis. I remember before last season even started how some of the Memphis fans were claiming how they were going dominate the AAC. Some had the delusion to say they were going to be to this conference what Duke is to the ACC LOL.. I can't help but LMAO

Wow
That was Layup Practice and Rebounding Clinic
I hate to lay on but as Callallen said that was probably the worst interior defense I've seen all season. Good interior passing though

Good. Who wants pity? This is everybody's time to beat on us, help yourselves. It won't last forever. But I call you out on your specious claim that some fans were claiming we were going to dominate the AAC. Find those posts, I do not believe they ever existed from 'some Memphis fans.'
You do not have to make stuff up to pile it on this year's version of the Tigers, yet you do so anyway. That says more about you than us.
**The only exception to the above is if you mean the poster from Memphis arguing with everybody in this thread, in every thread for that matter, in which case you may have a point.

Congrats on the win CalallenStang and all Mustang fans. We're a unique team this year. It's going to be a long, frustrating struggle this year. You guys are turned around and going strong. Good luck the balance of the year.
Yukon, keep posting. You're making a bigger fool of yourself than any of us could ever do. Keep assigning one-off comments by fringe lunatic fans as representative of our fan base it only makes you look more silly by the post. I don't assign your comments as representative of the UConn fan base because your radical comments aren't. Most UConn fans are normal sports fans just like Tiger fans.
Carry on making a fool of yourself however. You don't need our assistance.

RE: ***Official Memphis @ SMU Game Thread***
I watched the game as an impartial observer, since we have both teams coming up.
A couple of observations:
- worst guard play from a Memphis team since .... forever
- This year Goodwin looks less interested, and more confused about his role
- Pastner was badly outcoached. But thats why LB is a hall of fame coach
I think a healthy SMU is going to turn out to be our biggest problem. Cant wait to see Kennedy and Jaylen Bond go head to head

All seem pretty accurate to me.
It's just bizarre that the Tigers would have such poor guard play. I can't remember a time when we've been this starved for talented guards with court sense.
SMU is for real.

Hard to watch my Tigers look like this, I am sure many are only too happy to watch our demise under Pastner. We have had it pretty good around here for quite awhile and it is time to eat some crow this year and next if he is still around. Good luck to our legitmate teams this year, hope all those that make the dance make some noise like UConn did last year.
Hopefully we will pick up our slack soon.....anybody got about $8M for a buyout we can borrow so we can start turning things around???

You guys still look the same to me minus some additional experience. Under this guy you've always played playground ball and little D. Difference now is the youth which is a killer when your staff does not coach defense...my God the abuse of those regular ol' high ball screens last night was brutal. The guy got hired as a recruiter and youthful face but that's about it.
You guys will beat teams at the top of the conference. There is skill on that roster.

Well, he answered the question in the one that all message board warriors do, with the 'I'm not going back two years..." blah, blah. In other words, it's BS, you caught me and now I'm going to keep pretending that it happened because I've been caught and embarrassed.'
I even gave you an out and you didn't take it.
