Was thinking the same thing. We always play horribly when he does.

So Bartow talking about what to order at East Coast Wings. Not talking about basketball.

We win but why do we always have to make it so hard?

ETSU goes 1/2 on technical foul free throws and wins by 1. Tough game. Looking forward to the rematch in Macon!

Bartow always slows it down and we blow big leads. Been happening for years. Glad to put this one in the W column. Huge game Saturday.

Bartow has always tried to protect the lead. You would think he would realize that it usually doesn't work. This team is better when playing faster.

RE: Official Game Thread: Mercer
I agree with everyone else that slowing the game down with 6 minutes left is crazy, we always give up the big leads by doing that and everyone in the arena except Bartow realizes that.

I also don't understand why we don't have Petey in the game in those situations instead of Riley.

Finally, its weird how much of a dropoff Rembert has between the 1st half and 2nd half on most games. If he is getting that tired we need him on the bench. We have a ton of guards that can provide quality minutes and get Rembert the rest he needs.

They asked him after the game why he slowed it down so early, made the comment they had never seen him back it off with that much time left. He said he had been doing this a long time and it was a feel you develop. Yeah buddy.

Also Jay and that other guy got on my nerves, they kept talking about ETSU had to once again come up big with a defensive stand to win the game. We didn't win that game because of defense on the last play. We didn't play any defense at the end on the guy who took the last shot. The guy was wide open from when they lined up to throw it in. Nobody picked him up, he came across the lane open, caught the ball with no pressure and had an open look. He just missed, not because of any defensive play an ETSU player made or something we did as a team, he just missed. We got lucky, nobody even moved toward him until after he got the shot off.

Yep, that was not ETSU's game to win or lose closing it out like that with a 10 point lead gone yet again. Best look you could ask for other than a bunny layup.

But man, it's great heckling Bob. My whole family was in on it, corner seats right behind the Mercer bench. Hallace came back like a cry baby on one sub, told a fan to shut up. Glad to see Bob get his traditional T, shame he didn't go 2 for 2.

When Riley made the technical free throw I told the guy beside me I hoped the Bucs would wind up winning by 1.

I won't be saying that anymore.

RE: Official Game Thread: Mercer
No time out when Devin Harris was triggering right next to the bench was inexplicable.

No time out when Jalen Riley has it against the spread 2-3 zone under a minute was inexplicable.

Call a timeout, reset. We had 2 time outs left at the end of the game. Murry did everything he could to lose this one.

All the same, it's a good win, it would just feel a whole lot better for the team & fans if we put it away as we should have.

Defense at the end? Not all that great, I agree. I didn't see a replay, but I don't think we really got a hand in his face. We were fortunate to win this game, a game we had a 13 point lead with 5 min left.

I would think Mercer and Chattanooga will be ETSU's top rivalries for years to come.

RE: Official Game Thread: Mercer
I was totally disgusted for the Collapse down the stretch. It was a very, very familiar script. Turned out it was luck that we won as we did everything to give it away. No excuse for that not being an 8 to 10 point win. Sooner or later teams are going to start hitting that last shot that we always seem to give them to win the game. Just an old script.

RE: Official Game Thread: Mercer
Like everyone else, I had Gardner Webb PTSD with Murry's hyper-conserative play calling. Similarly, I'm perplexed why Petey's wasn't in at the end. If he can play limited minutes, why not play him at the end on that in-bounds play?

I'm glad we won, but wish we would've displayed a ruthless killer instinct with 6 minutes left instead of playing on our heels.
