A Weak SEC Conference Did Not Prepare Alabama for OHIO St.
Boy the SEC West is a power house isn't it? As is the case most of the time, this year's polls were rigged from the start. SEC team loses a game but drops only about about two to three spots, WHY? Well because the SEC West is so strong!!
Alabama, Aubrun, Mississippt St, Ole Miss, LSU all lost their bowl game, boy! That means they will all drop about two spots, WHY? Because the SEC West is so strong that'a why.
I long for the day FoxSports, CBS Sports, and NBCSports collaborate to bring down the evil ESPN Empire that is making a mockery out of our beloved sport. The SEC strength of power was so rigged this year it failed to prepare Alabama to beat OHIO St.

Yep, now we'll all have to go home and prepare for next season like everybody else.

While I like ESPN, they do have way to much power in NCAA football. You knew the polls were messed up when Texas A&M ranked mid 20's beat #9 South Carolina and they flipped rankings the first week of the season. Or that Miss St went from unranked to #1 in 5 weeks.
But the machine will be promoting the SEC and Big10 next year like never before!

Well played, sir.
We'll just forget about the fact that, out of that SEC West, in August-September LSU beat Wisconsin, Auburn beat Kansas STate, Ole Miss beat Boise STate plus Alabama beat West Virginia, Arkansas beat Texas Tech, and Ole Miss beat AAC Champs Memphis and Sun Belt runners-up ULL. Not to mention the last 4 or 5 national champions coming out of the SEC West.
Oh, and the SEC West won a whole lot of their games against the SEC East, who went out and won a bunch of bowl games.
I think the lesson is nobody knows nuthin. (Or that might be just me)

See I dont' think you can blame just ESPN for the polls. College coaches and writers are to blame to.
Frankly in week 1 I don't know how anyone can accurately rank the top 25 teams, no body of work has been really shown. It wouldn't fly...but I don't think any national polls should be released until the 5th week, they still might be inaccurate, but at least enough games have been played to make some sort of qualitative judgment on THIS years work, not LAST years performance.

The SEC West was surely overrated, but let's not go overboard here. As of now, the SEC is 6-5 in bowl games, the B1G is 5-5. And the B1G should be 4-6, absent that amazingly lucky win vs Baylor. That's not exactly burning down the house.

This is a very important point. Are we assuming that bowl games are the primary indicator of determining conference strength? If so, is that a fair measurement?

The Big East always had the best or second-best bowl record. We kicked butt. And it got us nowhere.
So if some conference now wants to brag about their good bowl record, I don't give a sh-t. F-U to whoever does that.

I wouldn't count on them promoting the Big Ten much. They don't have the business interest in it. Fox controls the CCG, the BTN co-owned by Fox and the conference controls a good amount of the basketball and football. They'll talk about Ohio State and Michigan as they always do but it will pale in comparison to the SEC coverage.

You think a weak B1G helped prepare Ohio State for Alabama too? Come on man...

Some on this thread maybe missed the satire in the title and purpose of it.
