I still believe FSU had the better argument for a better ranking than Alabama based on the regular season. If OSU looks decent against Oregon I guess the committee knew something I didn't, but it still wasn't based on on-the-field results.

I will say that Alabama looked like they belonged and I won't even try to defend whatever FSU thought they were trying to do out there today.

I still think it should've been
1. Oregon
2. Bama
3. OSU
4. TCU Baylor

Baylor won the Big 12, and should've been ranked ahead of TCU. The "committee" got it right leaving TCU out. Especially since the Big 12 wouldn't crown the true Big 12 champ.

All so I think there is the Alabama effect as I'll call it, or halo on the conference that's rubbing off on the conference.

SEC: 49-25
PAC: 28-24
Big 12: 32-30
ACC: 28-39
B1G: 21-40

Those were the bowl records from 2006 (beginning of SEC run) through last season. Going into this year, I think it was perfectly valid to assume the SEC was the best conference. That's not a Bama effect, that's the entire conference contributing. Turns out we weren't very good this year, and I think the PAC is the best conference in the country right now (for the season).

TCU was better though. It's supposed to be the four best teams. Those are the four best.

I think you may have the best 4 teams based on talent there but I don't think those are the 4 best teams based on results. That's giving the committee too much power and credit for judging talent, to let them overlook results and decide the 4 best teams based on talent.

How screwed up is this sport that there is this much discussion about who gets into the playoffs. College basketball is the closest thing and those teams that complain about not getting in at least have ZERO claim to being the best team in the country.

I don't even know it's just all tangled up. Need the top 8 conference's champs, and then 4 "wild card" teams that play an extra game. Ala NFL.
