About what I expected. Good win. Now on to an unknown, at least for me...Samford.

Tonight we were not hitting our three's, and won by 10. We were much better than VMI. They were bigger than us and obviously are going to get their share of rebounds because of that, but we played well (including very good defense) despite being cold from behind the arc.

I do wish we would do better handling press defense. Way too many times having trouble getting the ball in play on the baselines.

What did the new lighting look like in person?

The new lighting looked terrific and illuminated the floor well. I hope the next upgrade is the sound system. It sounds like they're using a boom box.

As for the game, I thought we took care of business and fought off a feisty VMI squad. Jalen took control offensively, and I liked his 5 steals the most. The bright spot of the night for me was Desonta. He disrupted QJ and can flat jump out of the gym. I'd put him up with there with Tubbs in terms of leaping ability. I was also glad to see we won on the glass.

Win the ones that matter. Get these conference wins taken care of.

Bates was on the bench last night and people around me in the stands said there's still a chance he might be back playing. Is this a pipe dream? It does seem odd that he's still hanging out with the team if he's "done" as some of you have said.

Lighting is much, much improved. Sound still terrible especially on the side where I sit (section 20).

Would be exciting to see the place full. 2300 and something listed on the box score. Hope to be there for the Citadel game. Never been in the place. Walking up at Freedom Hall and buy tickets, any problem? How's parking?

Do other events at FH have such a problem with sound? Or are we required to use our own stuff or something like that? I just can't comprehend why the music and mics can't be turned up more.

I also noticed Bates slumping off the court after the win, but I was more impressed to see the hard working Giplaye crutching himself out last....Anyways, could Bates qualify to play again with good progress at midterm of Spring? That would be late April or early March, maybe. I really don't know the rules. I heard rumor he had failed two courses simply by not trying. Not to stain anyone's reputation, although it makes sense for a 5th year graduate player not to care, necessarily, about the academics.
