WKU ......MT
It's been almost unsettling how well these two fan bases has got along since being brought back together in CUSA this season! I'm guessing that both sides realize we are better off together than apart. I'm sure given a little time we will be back to tire slashing Mexican standoffs that used to exist 04-cheers

Truth is many of us have dual loyalties (except when we face off) that tend to affect our abilities to truly detest each other. In my case I've got two family members who played ball for Western, and a niece who graduated from Hill Topper U. Fortunately, most of my family and many old high school friends either attended or graduated from Middle like me. Makes for a strange relationship!

RE: WKU ......MT
If you think about it, MT and WKU have been conference-mates several times over the generations (OVC, Sun Belt, now C-USA). This has to be more than you've been with Murray and EKU, and us with APSU and TN Tech. The two universities are more alike than they are dissimilar (both teachers colleges, close to the same enrollment, same undergrad makeup, roughly same athletics budgets). The synergy when together sells tickets and also drives both of us in our desire to excel over the other. I still hate to lose to you guys, but when we do I know it was to a capable opponent.

I'm REALLY ticked that I have to choose between watching the ladies in BG or going down to the Wookie center for the men. I want to attend both games.

That's a cool dynamic and should be fun for yall. That's the one thing many of us are missing about the CAA and having W&M, VCU, JMU, and Mason all in a conf together sharing so many friends and family of all those schools makes for fun rivalries.

Check your schedule again. They originally had them scheduled for the same day at the same time in two different places. Now the women play WKU on Saturday, 2-21-15, at 2pm at WKU. The men play WKU on Sunday, 2-22-15, at 12 pm at MT.

Pffft. Amateurs. Conference affiliation hasn't done anything to quell the hate between UCF / USF. Trust me, I should know. I'm a mod.

My impression of the Hundred Miles of Hate is that it's one of those rare rivalries that is built just as much out of mutual respect as it is out of disdain.

I like those rivalries. I think that over time we could develop something similar with ODU, given the similarities in our schools and programs. I hope we do. I really want to have a rival that I can genuinely wish well to after we play. I want to know what that's like.

I don't want mtsu to do good at all! And I am married to a huge booster for WKU haha. She wore red to the first game we went to after we started dating! He wouldn't let me sit at his court side seats haha

The one 13 year old WKU fan was banned from the board, so all of the crazy talk and 3 year old acts left when he left...

WKU ......MT
I think a lot of why the rivalry isn't as intense anymore has a lot to do with competition level. Both WKU & MTSU are competing at levels they never were before.

Back in the day in OVC or SBC, neither of us were beating up on any high caliber teams (except maybe basketball a long time ago.)

Now, WKU is competing with instate UK, beating them a couple years in a row in football, and a lot of our hatred has shifted to them because we are actually competitive with them now.

Same as MTSU, you guys are finally competitive with teams such as Memphis, UTK, and Vandy, so a lot of your hatred may have been redirected to them and less to us.

One thing is for sure though, MTSU and WKU have come a long way together, pushing off one another to make advancements in athletics. If MTSU never moved to FBS, who knows, WKU might never have had the urge to do it either.
