The Pinstripe Bowl Result
Aside from all the ugly things involving Penn State a few years ago, I am glad the seniors, who had no part in anything bad, finally got to go to and win a bowl game...

That had to be one of the nicest crowds of any of the bowls so far. Penn State fans traveled in mass. BC not so much.
Couple that game with the Holiday Bowl and it was an entertaining night in front of the tube.

RE: The Pinstripe Bowl Result
Idk, I have mixed emotions.

The seniors had a choice to leave and chose to stay with a bowl ban in place. So whatever motivated them to stick around, it was not the chance to go to a bowl.

Still, I guess it was a nice little surprise bonus parting gift for their loyalty.

Now whether or not the bowl ban should have been lifted, well, that debate could go on forever. You can say the NCAA over-reacted at first, but the fact is, Penn State, had a public relations disaster on its hands and had to do something drastic at the time to show that it took its role in the cover-up seriously and wanted to atone for its (lack of) actions. The fact that Penn State pushed back a couple of years later seems to have resulted a collective yawn. The consensus now seems to be that everybody over-reacted. Not everybody agrees, but I guess its time to move on.

I was at the game. BC had about 10-15,000 people there from what I could see. PSU had more than twice that and they were LOUD. Good job by them.

Even though I don't like BC, I have to admit it was a great game.

I'm sure the crowds for the Pinstripe will be very good as long as they continue to keep northeastern teams in the mix.
This is a great lower tier game for the ACC as well as the B10.
BC has impressed me this year. Your coach is a keeper.

I was at the game as well, I agree that the BC crowd was pretty solid. I'd put it at the higher end of the 10K-15K range. I was in Section 423, which was a "neutral section" and there was close to a 50-50 mix around me.

I don't know if the Pinstripe Bowl will ever get a crowd quite like that again. Everything --- and I mean everything --- was perfect to get that type of crowd. 50 degrees, sunny, regional teams, a Saturday afternoon slot, a kickoff time that allowed fans to Day trip it in from places like Philadelphia and Boston, a PSU fan-base which had been "bowl starved" and was ready to turn out in mass, a calendar date that allowed many fans to make a 3-day weekend of it (that's what I did, flying in from Detroit).

If/when the Pinstripe Bowl inevitably gets a team like Maryland, it's not going to be so good attendance-wise.

RE: The Pinstripe Bowl Result
Great and entertaining game. All the conditions were there for a sellout. But we had that last year with RU/ND and our trip there three years ago against ISU was a near sellout as well. This bowl will be looking to bring in the Northeastern BIG and ACC teams as much as possible. A good number of the ACC fans bases won't travel well to NYC. However, this area of the country exports massive numbers of college students to the ACC schools. Those kids then move back home for their careers. There are big alumni bases for UNC, Duke, VT, UVa and Miami in the NYC area. I'd expect to see those schools to eventually make the trip up.
