As tough as everything is right now and down we feel, it was a great season...let's fire this machine up again next season and get another double digit win total

Let's come back healthy and ready to fire next season! It will be nice to get TommyLee, Beebe, and others back. And Hare with an entire offseason of getting better.

Five consecutive 10+ win seasons.
Congratulations to the second straight Senior class to go 10+ for each of the four years.
This group of Seniors won 3 MACC, more then any group of NIU Seniors.

RE: Thank you NIU for another great football season
They met the expectations I had for the year in the regular season (well, they did better than I thought, but the MAC was down). Winning the MAC again was a nice surprise after losing the players we did. It's pretty tough when you start the year sans TLL, spend most of the year without Daniels, and then lose both Beebe and Saffold late in the year. Hopefully Hare will improve next year with having more time with the receivers and start hitting the deep throws.

RE: Thank you NIU for another great football season
I'm already planning my road trips for next season. I am really excited about the team. I hope the team gets better luck with the home game weather and fan turnout. It is flat out embarrassing that a team with such consistently great results receives such consistently poor fan support in terms of attendance. What the hell else do they have to do to get people to show up? Compared to other entertainment options the price is very favorable and the product is superior. The only excuse is the weather has been absolutely terrible for almost every home game the last two years. I really hope it is that simple. If not, I am very discouraged with the NIU fan base. The number of alumni in the immediate area with plenty of disposable income should be way more than sufficient to fill that stadium every game.

I agree but I was hoping to keep this particular thread a little more upbeat. Kudos to the team for another successful season, despite the bowl loss.

RE: Thank you NIU for another great football season
Last January, friends of mine asked me how NIU would be in 2014. My response was, "Well, I think you have to think they'll take a step back, but hopefully they will still be able to compete in the MAC West."
NIU did that and more. A great season, despite my added grey hairs.
Flags fly forever, and that "NIU Huskies: Three Time Champions 1983, 2011, 2012" flag I have hanging in my classroom that all of my students see every day is now obsolete.
Time to get a new one that, hopefully, will be out of date a year from now.

This was an unexpectedly great season. Thanks to the players, coaches and support staff, and huge thanks to the seniors for all the thrills over the past four years. You guys did us proud and will be missed.

Yep, and with the best Offensive and Defensive players not seeing the field (Tommy Lee and Bass) as well as Harris all season. Daniels was not 100% until late in the season.

2010 11-3
2011 11-3
2012 12-2 Orange Bowl
2013 12-2
2014 11-3
7 straight Bowl games! (that means 15 extra practices a year)!
9 Bowl games in last 11 years.
5 Straight MCC games!! (One less then Marshall)
3 MACC titles in past 4 years.
Power 5 teams every year!!
Better then a 2 season 10+ and one conference title.

Great point, completely unexpected after losing the center piece of your program to graduation. Unlike others who posted, I believe this played with passion every game; last game included. Don't confuse poor execution with a lack of passion. Our DB's struggled but they played hard. Folliard and Payton were very solid in the nickel package. Even on the last series we were battling; Santa was jawing at their sudeline and Head Coach for throwing with 2 minutes left. This team never stopped fighting. The most overachieving team I can remember.

RE: Thank you NIU for another great football season
For NIU to accomplish what it has this season with the graduation losses suffered in 2013 is truly amazing. What program wins their conference a year after losing the best or 2nd best QB in program history (Chandler Harnish was quite awesome as well)!
It takes a great deal of heart and talent to win 7 road games only 2 of which the final score was within 1 TD.
The strength of the current recruiting class is a result of the efforts and success of this current team.
