So the plan for increasing donations is to compete for championships. Isn't that they have always attempted to be doing? How is that a plan, when it is what has always been attempted. Are they saying they haven't really been trying in the past?

Pretty stupid logic on their part

If you read the report, it's completely obvious that the goal is to kill football.

And why in the world would we not play baseball games at Region's Field? Not to mention spending $2M renovating Young Memorial when we already get to play at the one of the best facilities around?

Maybe the powers that be did not like us playing at Regions Field because that is so much better than playing at the Met. I think I heard the Met will be hosting a team this yr.

There's a key difference.
The more you look at Common Core Math, you find that the numbers eventually add up to the correct answer.

The more you look at the Carr Report, you discover things like that whole tables are off $130,000 PER YEAR.

I guarantee that consistent errors isn't a mistake, its number fudging done not in Excel, but in Word or Acrobat that was done to force the result that was being looked for.

Well, if the report is mathematically flawed ( lets not even factor in the lack of considering other intangibles ), then what does it say about our new VP for Finance who Watts trotted out to explain the findings?? Id have to assume that the VP isnt up to snuff in the academic area he was hired for and has no damn business taking any part in the evaluation of the Carr "Data" or making any recommendations to the President about the study or anything else related to finances and number crunching. .

i have never understood the cost of scholarships. the athletic program is charged 85 x 6000 (football only) per semester. That is a lot of cash. Are they charged out of state tuition rates on those players also? Who is the recipient of this money? The undergrad school? No accounting whiz like you guys but this seems like a "funny money" charge to me. And the next step will be to close whatever school most of the players participate in due to lack of funds?

I've asked before and didn't see an answer, how much of the cost of scholarship is an actual cash outlay?

I'm not sure how they quantify that. The classes would go on whether the athlete was in the room or not. Basically it is though you decided to charge yourself taxi fare every time you went somewhere. The ten bucks you charge goes out of one pocket and into another. I'm sure that there's a bookkeeping entry for it, and if done properly it would depend on whether it was an in-state or non-resident player.

Maybe someone here is an accountant and has a better answer than that.

Where is Alabama`s attorney general? The Carr report is getting very fishy. Looks like someone has gotten paid off at UAB football expense
