I don't think a couple trolls on a message board makes a rivalry, but if UCF and Memphis meet in the AAC title game a few times it could get interesting.
I don't think next year will be our year...
We just lost 8 defensive starters from this year's team...and our defensive coordinator Barry Odom who accepted the same position with his alma mater Missouri.

memphis football just got a huge tv boost, i bet 1 or 2 more games make espn next year..the memphis football brand just grew
paxton lynch took his first step to notoriety
UCF adds another budding rivalry to its already long list of teams growing to hate them
AAC owned miami bowl was a hit, thousand of headlines have "Miami Beach Bowl" right now for whatever reason, and a historic/memorable first game
and we all got a GREAT game and an entertaing ending
How did UCF add an rivalry.? I am sure a poster said something but its a poster not our coach or admin.

As for rivalry, it really doesn't exist now, in FB or in BB. Can that happen? yes, can it become a big conf game? Yes. Memphis is not a natural rival for UCF like USF or even ECU. I see Memphis/Cincy becoming a big game, maybe even a true rivalry. That would be good for both schools.
Memphis and Cincy maybe becoming a rivalry? It's not the biggest for either school in our history, but we have been together through 3 conferences.... We have played each other a lot. Memphis and Cincy is the oldest rivalry in this conference.
I thought Memphis was in 4 Conferences together?
Missouri Valley, Metro, CUSA, AAC ............. Yep

If we brawl at the end of every game, our ratings will beat any P5 conference. Give the people what they want.

You have to actually WIN to be a rival.
They're just another team we beat in a given season.
9-0.

RE: In the end the AAC Wins
The AAC has not won. Yes, there has been plenty of media attention on this game, but 90% of it has been about the brawl, a black eye on BYU and Memphis. Memphis, and the AAC, have thus been robbed of the small media shine this win should have brought.
Sad, because it was an extremely entertaining ball game.

If you don't think that game was extremely entertaining, you just don't like football.

almost every headline has been ...something like ..memphis and byu brawl after double ot thriller ...by a ton of news sources that wouldn't have written anything otherwise
literally no one is talking about the marshall niu game versus conference champions double digit teams, versus a g5 darling in niu and this years hot non p5 topic in marshall ..on cato's last game and him putting up crazy stats...literally no headlines
i guarantee put a brawl in the end of that ..every news outlet would have posted "cato and marshall shine in final brawl marred fight"
go to the espn twitter pages after the game everything about the brawl (even non brawl stuff) are pushing a 1k retweets while the niu game are doing 100...the main sportscenter page posted about the game double ot, brawl ..nothing about niu/marshall
now go to deadspin, sports illustrated, usatoday and every sports site ALL metion the brawl, but also mention the game....almost non mention marshall....
memphis football just got a major fascintion boost, their next few games will deinitely have rating improved

It was not only entertaining, but apparently quite costly to a few knuckleheads who gambled their families hard-earned cash on a BYU win. Sorry for your financial loss.

I don't think the 20 or so Memphis & UCF fans that read this board are going start a UCF/Memphis rivalry.
Nope but there are two or three UCF fans that are slowly working on making the entire conference hate them.... This thread should have been a simple congratulations thread but there are some serious classless assclowns on here.
You could say the same about any other fanbase in the conference, except for maybe Tulane. Every fanbase has their warts. Not sure what the Miami Beach Bowl had to do with UCF at all, except as a drive-by from the OP.

Dan Patrick talked about it on his show yesterday. He rarely if ever mentions any non-P5 football games. Said the game was great, and it was too bad it was marred by a brawl, which shouldn't have happened, but went on to say, "We're talking about Memphis football. Have we ever done that before?"

Hey if the AAC could get a major bowl tie in and 25mil per team I'd be fine with it...but we can't, we won't and we all know that. So any team that can jump is going to jump if/when the time comes.
