toledo would need to really pack the glass bowl again for a few years to be considered in any conf move up or national recognition from the mac. some of that is winning, but some is creating a stronger core of fans and more game day atmosphere (tough with mid week games down the stretch played until 1130 on tuesday night). i think if toledo can escape the disposable tv fodder life for a student and fan based approach to home football games that we can be a boise or tcu.
Right on, pono. Quit trying to be something we're not.

“This has always been a place, since I took the job from day one – it's a job in my opinion that can become the next Boise State. It can become the next TCU. It can become one of those programs,” Campbell said. “I think the only way you can become the next TCU, become one of those programs, is to have really great sustainability and try to do it not only with the head coach, but with great administration and great core people in your program.”
Some pretty ambitious statements. It sounds like Campbell might want to stay at UT long-term. Are his plans realistic?
Very ambitious for the head coach of a program in a weak conference that hasn't won a division title in 10 years.

We are complaining because our head coach had and still has high expectations??? Lol what is wrong with our fan base. His main goal is still to win a MACC. He hasnt been successful yet but neither was Pinkel or Coach K in basketball. I know we are impatient but this season wasnt that bad and can be the best in 3 years if we take down stAte.

What he did at Kent St was nothing short of remarkable.
Albeit he had some amazing talent.
I would take his single stellar season over MC's entire resume.
What? That "stellar" season for Kent included a blowout loss to a bad Kentucky team that went 2-10 (0-8 in the SEC), and season ending losses to NIU and ASU. It was a good season, but a 3 loss season is hardly "stellar," even by Kent's lowly standard. Kent has been bad before and since 2012. There is no way I would trade Toledo's recent record for Kent's based on that one 3 loss season. If Toledo had Kent's record during recent years, people would be rightfully screaming for a coaching change. After a couple of 1 or 2 win seasons, as Kent has had the past two years, imagine what the Glass Bowl crowds would look like. You seriously would prefer that?

I don't see why we shouldn't be just as optimistic next year as we were this year for a MAC championship. The Oline has always been a strength on UT teams, I don't see that changing next year. We have two of the best running backs in the league, two very good WRs. On Defense we have a very strong Dline and LBs. We have a lot of gained experience in the secondary, plus two injured starting CBs coming back. The QB situation should be improved with Woodside gaining experience and strong competition with Ely will benefit both. I personally think Ely may be the guy we need to get over the top.

I know. MC says he wants to be the best, and posters are saying, "LOL, we suck. What are you smoking?" I guess MC should just say "I'm here to finish mid-pack in the MAC. I have no goals for this team."

There are differences between goals and results. Love the fact that 50plus members of team have a 3.0 or better. Results. Love the fact that we beat BG regularly now. Results. Five straight losses to NIU are results too. No championships is a result too. This extension is too long for the results. That is all

So he wants to be on level with TCU and Boise State. Every person here would LOVE that. Win the division first. That's all. Those other goals are very ambitious when much simpler goals cannot be achieved over a long period of time.

YEP.
The coach had already taken a new job and left before the bowl game.
Too bad about that loss to KY.
How about the rest of the wins?
That 1 season at Kent was more exciting than the last 10 of our seasons combined.
Excluding the Michigan game!

What are you reading? NOWHERE did MC say that UT IS the next Boise or TCU. He said UT CAN be the next Boise or TCU. Do you think UT cannot become the next Boise or TCU?
Becoming the next Boise or TCU involves winning conference championships. What's so hard to understand about that? Would you rather have him say "we can become the next EMU" or "we can become the next Kent St, the same Kent that has ONE winning season in 20+ (?) years". Oh, wait, you would rather be a fan of the team with ONE winning season in 20+ years.
