C'Mon Sieben!! I lob up a batting practice fastball to you and I can't get a Chase Mejia stolen gloves/porn star joke? When I put that thing in belt-high, I expect it to end up in the upper deck.

Keep your eye on the prize. Don't let MD's intellectual knuckleballs distract you.

That's a good point, so really he was much more highly tauted than Lynch.

Lol. Just reason #8,592 why recruiting rankings are meaningless

Just for the hell of it, I picked a completely random year (2009) and looked at the dual threat QB rankings.

https://rivals.yahoo.com/footballrecruit...sdtqb/2009

I literally have only heard of two guys on the list, Scheelhaase and the kid who smoked himself stupid at TCU. Clearly being the 19th ranked dual threat QB is a huge deal lol.

Just curious , lets see who 19 is, Conor Shaw, who has thrown a touchdown pass in the NFL lol

That's literally one of the 4 guys on the list you've ever heard of. Stop acting like those rankings mean anything. I cannot believe any NIU fan puts anything into recruiting rankings still. Are you just not paying attention or are you really that stupid?

Connor Shaw is ranked 19th and he's hands down the best player on the list. Tells you how much stock you should put into them.

A pre-season TD against similarly crappy players.

RE: Landon Root
Not that I agree with MD, but there are actually some decent players on the 2010 list.

James Franklin had a good career at Mizzou. Munchie Legueax was a solid player.

But on the flip side, when has a highly recruited NIU player panned out?

Top 3 recruits last year look like they are all gone. Wobble sucked, mike cotton never saw the field. I could go on and on.

I just hope Spence Tears turns around the highly recruited thing.

I think Sean Progar was the last highly recruited player to play well in DeKalb. I don't even know how many stars he had. Lloyd Carr gave him a scholly to Michigan then retired and Rich Rod said no, so he had to walk on here.

Just wait until MD comes in with his take

I knew when this situation unfolded late this summer that Root was probably gone. The way the QB situation was handled would have caused me to bolt out of town tbh if I was a 3-star top 20 national dual threat QB. Root's leaving I feel is strongly linked to the fact that playing time early was not assigned based on performance or a real competition. When you don't base things on performance, bad things happen, and in this case one of those is losing one of your best QB prospects to ever attend NIU
I hate responding to you, but you have nothing to back this up. To imply a coach who has been as succesful as Carey has been in a short period of time does anything but base playing time based off performance is quite frankly laughable.

Well, you saved me a post.

Well you can't have water without hydrogen and oxygen....

Just not sure what happened with this guy. My thought is it had to be something personal. He was the anointed starter here for at least 2 years of his future career here, so that should have been enough.

RE: Landon Root
When Root was originally being recruited, he was offered by Harvard. If he was transferring there in order to get PT and going FCS so he wouldn't have to sit a year that would make sense to me but Kansas State never offered him a scholarship when he was being recruited and now out of the blue he wants to go there where he will have to sit out a year and face some stiff competition to see the field. Why isn't he going JC there are plenty of those in Kansas?

Starter Jake Waters used up his elgiibility this season but KSU enrolled 3 Frosh QB's total in the 12, 13 and offered a QB (Alex Delton) in this class.

When a player goes from a G5 program to a P5 program and will have to sit out a year, it makes you think there was tampering on the part of Kansas State.

There's nothing that actually says he's going to Kansas State. It would be pretty weird if they didn't offer him coming out of high school and a year later they want him. If he ends up there, it's most likely as a walk on.
