Make that 1-0 this year. Last year was an impossible situation. For the first time in his nfl career, Keenum got to play with a healthy staying rb and an effective defense. And his kicker made the kicks, something that lost a couple of games for Keenum last year.
Keenum didn't set any records today on offense, but he managed the game well enough to win. He didn't make mistakes, he showed that he's learned to handle the blitz, and he was able to put points on the board.
And he did this with five days of practice.
From the Houston Chronicle:
It had been obvious all week how warmly the Texans felt about Keenum. They spoke about his courage and his character, which encompassed a work ethic they’d witnessed last season and would see again this time around.
“He’s been the first one up here and the last one to leave the entire week,” Foster said. “That’s hard. People don’t understand how hard that is, going from one offense to another within a week and just picking up the lingo. There’s so much that goes into it. He just came in here and studied his (butt) off.
