After injuries to 3 QB's (Fitzpatrick, Mallet, and Savage)---the Houston Texans claimed Case from the Rams practice squad early this week. He had 5 days of practice and started today against the Ravens. The Texans won 25-13 with Keenum throwing the ball 43 times. Nice to see Case get his first NFL win.
He looked good while doing it too!

Btw, Case is the only 20,000 yard man in college football history.
I saw he was going to get the start, glad he won.
Defense did all the work and kept giving him short fields that he couldnt convert to touchdowns. 1-8 now as a starter, yay.

He has one more NFL win than Johnny Foortball. Frankly, Andrew Luck would have been 0-8 with that Texans train wreck last season. The Ravens were using the Kubiak offense this year. You can see how difficult it is for the QB when the running game gets shut down. Last year Keenum played with Foster for one quarter before Foster was injured. By the last few games of 2013 the Texans were starting street free agents at running back because they were so decimated at that position.

I agree the defense played great. As for turnovers--they are part of the game. Keenum managed to throw 43 times with just one turnover. That's a big reason the Texans won.

Is Keenum currently a starting quality QB? Probably not. That said, I see a lot of growth from last year to this year. He got the ball out much quicker and he wisely threw it away rather than try and force something. If he continues to develop---maybe he can win a starting job somewhere. My guess is he has an excellent chance of being a backup for some NFL team next year. Over time, maybe he develops enough to be starter---but a career as an NFL backup QB ain't bad for an undrafted "system" QB.
It's impressive against the ravens d

This town sure does love Case. I'm happy for him and hope we get another W next week.

Bingo.

He'll continue to earn good money being a glorified clipboard manager. Best deal in the NFL, IMO. I'm happy for him.

And last year Bullock missed two easy game winning FGs. And the team lost by 7 or less every game DESPITE the D taking the ball away an NFL record low 9 times. And Foster and Tate were both out. AND they lost 3 OLinemen from the previous year. AND Andre was out most of the season.
So it is about time he got to play with a full cast of characters. Last year they lost DESPITE Keenum, not because of him.

Make that 1-0 this year. Last year was an impossible situation. For the first time in his nfl career, Keenum got to play with a healthy staying rb and an effective defense. And his kicker made the kicks, something that lost a couple of games for Keenum last year.

Keenum didn't set any records today on offense, but he managed the game well enough to win. He didn't make mistakes, he showed that he's learned to handle the blitz, and he was able to put points on the board.

And he did this with five days of practice.

From the Houston Chronicle:
It had been obvious all week how warmly the Texans felt about Keenum. They spoke about his courage and his character, which encompassed a work ethic they’d witnessed last season and would see again this time around.

“He’s been the first one up here and the last one to leave the entire week,” Foster said. “That’s hard. People don’t understand how hard that is, going from one offense to another within a week and just picking up the lingo. There’s so much that goes into it. He just came in here and studied his (butt) off.

And, yet, with last year's pathetic O-line, no running backs and Gary Kubiak as the HC, the majority of the losses were by a TD or less. First game this year with less than a week to prepare, he goes against a Super Bowl QB and doesn't allow himself any sacks, no fumbles and no points off his lone interception.
Houston can get into the playoff. 3 things need to happen:

Texans beat Jags (pretty likely)
Chiefs win (50-50)
Browns win (unlikely)

Too bad it hinges on the browns, but would be incredible if Case could get this team in the playoffs... similar to how Yates did a few years ago. Cool story.
I think I read somewhere Keenum got really emotional and Arian Foster threatened to punch him if he cried lol
As a Cardinal fan, I'd kill for Keenum right now.
