There were 8,000 there. Maybe 8,500.

That's the number I've been saying since I left the building.

RE: Announced attendance
A drop in attendance during this stretch could have been foreseen by anyone who saw a schedule. The magnitude of it is what is surprising. I'm glad we kept searching for an answer in football until we finally found one.

High dollar seats going unused is a leading indicator. We should keep an eye on that.

Maybe some of those high dollar seats went unused because they went to Miami for the bowl game. The Bank of Bartlett Charter left Saturday morning

Dont tell him that. He was getting his hopes up that the big donors are boycotting the game.

And the band looks greatly reduced as well. I'm assuming most of them are already in Miami as well.

Didn't know a charter plane could hold 5,000 fans. That I'd like to see!

There's a lot you are proving you dont know today. Apparently the fact that you dont have to use the charter to get to Miami is among them.

The only thing being proven today is that you and I disagree, and for some reason that really makes you an emotional mess.

All I said was that maybe some of the fans who have lower level seats weren't there because they went to the bowl game. I used the charter as an example for a possible reason why some of those fans weren't there as it departed Memphis before the basketball game even started. I never said all of them weren't there because they went on the charter. That was your spin, not mine. keep throwing crap against a wall, it may eventually stick

Crap opponent, ok team but improving, disappointing start to season....hence the low attendance. Not surprising.

So none of them wanted to give their tickets away or sell them? They prefer they sit empty?

RE: Announced attendance
All I know is that I know some of the people who sit in the lower level and they opted to go to Miami, thus missing the basketball game Saturday.

This year I haven't watched a single Tigers game and I don't even care much. Over the past two years my decades-long "Tiger fever" has turned into Tiger apathy.

Why wouldn't you enjoy Tiger wins? The team had a rough start but are playing better. They may be cupcake wins but we need these games to learn to play together.

I counted them and CUSA was pretty close!! 6,782 but there were probably a couple hundred at concessions so I'll round it off to 7,000..

RE: Announced attendance
There are literally thousands of us in Florida. Which does not change the fact that attendance is down...but explains how it was even more down the last few games.

The puffing about the meaning behind this beyond fickleness over losing some early games badly, is overblown.

While on this board many will piss on any fun discussions or expressions, hopefully that overall attitude does not infect the actual games...where many have a lot of fun and support the hell out of our school and its kids and staffs. Which does not mean we do not recognize poor performances...but the team was 3-4 and could be no better than 7-4 after four games.

Maybe we can enjoy that without all the bullying. Of course the bullies cannot stand it because if someone is pleased the team ran off four wins in a row, they assume that person thinks we believe the team just beat Duke four times in a row.

Er...no. But our UNIVERSITY OF MEMPHIS...gets the support. Try and help our team and our school win its fifth in a row next week.
