Actual tickets sold is good for the revenue aspect, but forecasting into next year should raise some huge concerns.
Especially if the Grizz have a long playoff run. I can't imagine much excitement for season ticket renewals next year if this year plods along like we've seen and the Grizz continue to excel.
The Grizzlies will be the death of tiger attendance this year and for renewals next. That team has a real chance to advance in the nba playoffs to the finals. There's only so much disposable income in this town.
The Tigers conference slate sucks. Back to playing teams we have been trying to get away from. Memphis fans are fickle and apathetic and a good percentage have already moved on from pastner.
It is what it is.
Memphis (and the surrounding region) has enough money to buy 1,044,000 tickets. Don't blame the Grizz for any apathy with the Tigers.
At some point, "just alright" was going to really hurt when "just alright" slipped into "mediocre."
Everyone knows Memphis is a fair-weather friend.
Bingo.
Tom, being a fan and supporter of the Grizz and Tigers doesn't have to be mutually exclusive. Most folks I know support BOTH.

Next up is a sub 300'team.
Michigan St just lost to a sub 300 team coached by Mike Davis. Pastner never lost to Mike Davis.
I mean, good grief, think what this board would have done if Pastner lost to a 1-8 Mike Davis team AT HOME.
What does mich st losing have anything to do with affecting tiger attendance?
All good teams play cupcakes and buy games. Most have attendance that is affected by it, unless they play in gym that restricts attendance. Very few teams play their home games in an 18,000 seat capacity arena. Most are half that size at best.
And occasionally, they will lose to a cupcake. I was just throwing that in because you seem oblivious to it.
You are the one missing the point friend. Now stop acting like a petulant child who doesn't get his way. I'm assuming you're above that but I just might be giving you too much credit.
Ok, let me go ahead and call you out for what you are doing.
You are acting like you are soooooooo upset that we are playing cupcakes at this time of the year, and it is affecting our attendance.
bullsh*t
You are butthurt because you heard what Pastner said yesterday about why he made the schedule the way he did. We have all of these new guys coming in, and he wanted a stretch of easy games to work them into the system
But that doesnt help your cause, does it? No, not when you want this team to lose. I get it. Most of us get it. If the team plays these cupcakes, they will win. If they win, your hope of a sub-500 season goes out the window. If the team gets their confidence up and goes on a run, they could (*shudder*) make the tournament yet again.
I get it. You're not being a sly as you think you are. kiddo......

Well let me ruin your thesis. I didn't hear pastners comments yesterday. So you see, you are the one projecting.
I'm also not butthurt or upset over anything. Just stating the obvious that Memphis is a fickle sports town and dollars will flow to what consumers find more interesting and better value for their dollar.
At this point it's the Grizzlies and the attendance numbers at Memphis are starting to be indicative of that. I also don't see Memphis remaining conference schedule as a positive.
Simple as that really. Not sure why you're getting so emotional.

High dollar seats going unused is a leading indicator. We should keep an eye on that.

That is nowhere close to 13k. LOTS of empty seats in level 2 and 3.

Hear what you want to hear. You're the one posting the picture of a ton of empty seats. Zoom in and you'll see....unless you chose not to.

Maybe some of those high dollar seats went unused because they went to Miami for the bowl game. The Bank of Bartlett Charter left Saturday morning

Yep, like someone said...folks hear what they want to hear.

Dont tell him that. He was getting his hopes up that the big donors are boycotting the game.
And the band looks greatly reduced as well. I'm assuming most of them are already in Miami as well.
