RE: Biggest Implosion...
I historically never had the high expectations for football that lead to emotional implosions...I'm usually waiting for the other shoe to drop. I thought about the Arizona shot from the 7-up shoot out in Tempe that rath mentioned, but man, I completely forgot about ISU tackling Burton (was at both of those games). That really hurt because I thought that team was going to go deep in the tourney. Same probably applies to the WVU shot Reuben got a finger on - definitely made me get pissed and want to throw things. Kenyon just made me sad.

The ISU ncaa game was painful....but I didn't think that UC team despite being a 2 seed was going to do anything. If you recall we were preseason #1...with no point guard. Charles Williams wasn't the answer. Going into the ncaa I just didn't see us doing anything without a true point guard (we had Legree the year prior and went to the elite 8). That UC team was more of a paper tiger I thought.

I completely agree in retrospect, but at that moment in time I hadn't given up on Williams yet. I tend to be a bit too optimistic at times, a fault I completely acknowledge.

We would have won that game if not for O'Dell dropping a dime on Charles Williams, and did he break into Huggs office looking for stuff?

Loss to Loyola in NC game. Blowing big lead and losing on a travel basket. No team had ever won 3 in a row. Only UCLA has done it since.

Ok, before the strand ends, I will say it. The biggest implosion was Sanders Hall, followed by Kenyon's injury.03-lmfao

Agree. Woke me up out of a drunken morning sleep in my apartment on mcmillan. Huge explosion followed by the loudest cheer ever.

Ruben Patterson's partially blocked half court last second prayer, wasn't it off the backboard too? I melted down so bad all that was left was a charred brain stem.

Very surprised no one has mentioned Zimpher. Hope I'm not opening a can of worms with that statement. (I now expect this thread to reach 1,000 posts.)

Most of the posters are too young to remember this, but without a doubt, this is it. I was in a state of depression for a month.

What about last year vs. Louisville at home. Either sport.

Looking back the one that meant the most was kenyon breaking his leg, but in the moment I'd say the West bank shot had me feeling the lowest. freaking prayer stopping a sweet 16 birth.

The other was mcnamara.

Jesus this is a depressing thread.

Christ. I was at the McNamara shot, too. Must have repressed that memory. Thanks, Mark.
